This album is one of my favorites, out of over 100. Skylark is, in my opinion, one of the best melodic epic metal bands out there, beating Human Fortress, Labyrinth, Secret Sphere and even Rhapsody. These guys are extremely fast, second to Dragonforce, among everything I've ever heard. The keyboards in this music are among the most beautiful out there, up there with Stratovarius, Nightwish, and Children of Bodom. The singer is also quite amazing and stands out in his own way. This band puts even Lost Horizon to shame. With the bonus track ballad, this CD is easily well rounded.
The first song contains the 5 or so second intro and then whips right into great keyboards. That first song is very fast and very good. The 2nd song is just the same. The 3rd song is the first of 2 epics on the CD, called "Lady of the Sky". This song has turned into one of my absolute favorites. There are great keyboards (expect that throughout the whole album) and a fantastic fastest part of the whole album that starts around the 5:30 mark. I absolutely love the guitaring in that part. A female even sings a line in this song. The song clocks in at 10:54. Track 4 is a 0:38 mid-tro (I made that word up) that is absolutely beautiful, like the intro on Timeless Departure. Track 5 starts off like it might be a ballad, the way track 7 does on Deception of Pain, but is sheer speed like every other song on the CD. Track 6 is... guess what? Fast. Then comes the 2nd epic. This one is even longer, clocking in at over 12 minutes! Not a lot of songs are longer than this one. Track 8, "Last Christmas In Hell", is my best friend's favorite on the album. It is one of my favorites, the only problem being that they ALL ARE MY FAVORITES!!! Then is the outro which doesn't have any real music. Onto the bonus track. It's shorter than Celestial Dream, but like it when it comes to how soft and atmospheric it is. It is called "A Star in the Universe" - I don't think amazon lists this song in the track listing, but it's on here. Overall, this is a top quality CD. The ONLY thing this album doesn't have is variation, which few CDs do well. Elements by Stratovarius is a great example of that. Evilized by Dream Evil is a horrible example of variation - every song sounds the same (except for Forevermore - what a ballad!).
Do me a favor and say if my review helped you or not. It only takes one little click... ... and I hope it's "yes"!:)
