Divine Inspiration!,
By Janet Battcock (Holyrood, NF Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Divine Intimacy: Meditations on the Interior Life for Every Day of the Liturgical Year (Paperback)
A fantastic book which has assisted me in my daily devotion to prayer and meditation. The daily readings are just the right length for a quick study. When time permits, the readings can also offer a wonderful beginning to prayer and contemplation. Sometimes it is not easy to begin on your own, but this book will always give you something to start with in those times. The daily meditations have always been very appropriate for my particular state of mind and heart at the moment I begin to read.

Divine Intimacy,
This review is from: Divine Intimacy: Meditations on the Interior Life for Every Day of the Liturgical Year (Paperback)
The best book after the Bible and Imitation of Christ. This is a book that one can make reference to throughout the year. I call it a masterpiece and have purchased close to 100 (from Tan Books and Amazon.com). A great gift for a priest or religious, a great book for someone who wants to get closer to God, a great book for a struggling christian. Thanks. God bless.

Great Book!,

This review is from: Divine Intimacy: Meditations on the Interior Life for Every Day of the Liturgical Year (Paperback)
The daily format, following the Liturgical year, was very helpful. There is a "discussion" topic, and then a "colloquay" for each day. The discussion topic examines in depth some facet of spiritual development. The colloquay is a prayerlike meditation upon the meat of the discussion topic. This could easily be used to facilitate a daily contemplation time. This is a deep book, but by dividing the topic up into bite-size pieces, it is very digestible. How many "daily meditation" books can you read every day? If you are serious about your spiritual development, you will want to make sure this is one of them.

I use this book for contemplation and meditation. I must say that this great book helps in times of need. I plan to become a priest myself with the Legionaries of Christ. Books like this help us live a solid life and one for Christ and for the Church. Thanks !

An answer to prayer...,

This book is helping me live the contemplative Christian experience. The relationship between contemplation and action has always been a "fuzzy" challange to me. This book is speaking directly to me, daily. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is seriously trying to live his/her Christian Faith.I agree with the first reviewer - Scripture; The Imitation of Christ; Divine Intimacy (and I add"THe Practice of the Presence of God, by Brother Lawrence). BUY IT !

YEAH!!! TAN is Republishing,
By John C. Garrett (Barnegat, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Divine Intimacy: Meditations on the Interior Life for Every Day of the Liturgical Year (Paperback)
As a Catholic priest, I think it was rather sinful the prices people were charging for an used copy of this book (the 1 Volume edition). Hundreds of dollars for a book that sold for $40 just a year or two ago? I guess it does atest to the great value of this book.
Well I have good news; TAN Books has decided to republish this work, in a new one volume, leather-bound edition. They hope to start shipping them on April 30, 2006. They will list for $48, but they are on sale now for $40.

Review from the Publisher,

Based on the traditional Catholic calendar and the teachings of the great Carmelite saints. Shows us how to obtain a close intimate relation with God by using a Teresian way of prayer. A classic brought back by popular demand.

a precious resource for Christian contemplation,

This book is the best one on Christian contemplation I've ever read. It is a perennial source of insight into God's love, without soft-pedalling the frightening consequences of sin. I hope to find it in print again, and will buy several copies right away for friends. Too bad about the price-gouging going on now: it's a wonderful part of any Catholic library but wait 'til there are enough used copies out there for the price to drop below the outrageous $250 or more for a copy requested by certain used booksellers. I bought mine for $31.50 two years ago, new. Hope that Loreto comes through in Jan 2006.

A 'must have' for all Catholics,
By
This review is from: Divine Intimacy: Meditations on the Interior Life for Every Day of the Liturgical Year (Paperback)
I am a Secular Discalced Carmelite, and this is a MUST for those of us who have chosen this contemplative way of life. It is a shame that TAN has ceased publishing this book, since it is now very difficult to obtain. I have several on order through Amazon, but they have them on backorder, because TAN won't publish them. Please, please, TAN! Publish this much-needed book again, or turn the rights over to a publisher that WILL!

Walking by faith.....,

This review is from: Divine Intimacy: Meditations on the Interior Life for Every Day of the Liturgical Year (Paperback)
Other than the Bible & The Imitation of Christ, this is the supreme spiritual text on union with God. What a great way to start the day! My only complaint is TAN publishing this in a very cheap binding. All of their books seem to fall apart after only a short time. The glued pages separate from the binding leaving the pages to fall out. I eventually bought the Baronius Publishing edition which is bound in beautiful leather and bound securely so the pages will not detach from the binding. Believe me, it's worth the extra cost. That explains the star rating.
