5.0 out of 5 stars Jan sleeps with this book under her pilow!, September 26, 2003
By

This review is from: The Divine Light Invocation: A Healing Meditation (Paperback)
A succint and powerful ancient practice from the east of invoking light is brought to us with much care here. Given to Swami Sivananda Radha by the glorious Babaji, the Divine Light Invocation is an initiation into a more divine life. Wether you're interested in learning about the light invocation for the first time or revitilizing your practice please for the good of us all read this again and again. Invigorating every time this is among the top three most worthwhile books I have ever read. When I asked my precious friend Jan why she sleeps with it under her pillow the reply was 'it just makes me feel better that way." and I know what she means. If you only ever have ten books, let this be one of them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Building a spiritual foundation., August 23, 2003
This review is from: The Divine Light Invocation: A Healing Meditation (Paperback)
This book describes the story how Swami Radha first received this practice from Babaji. It also has step by step instructions how to do the practice. It is a standing meditation which looks quite simple in its format but it can be a profound practice. My understanding of this practice is that it is like a shortcut in realization of the Self. This practice if practiced regulary and with concentration provides us with means to achieve this aim.

Swami Radha says that if we identify with our many different prsonality aspects which are constantly shifting we will stay confused. She also says that this practice can desolve our identification with the body and mind which is quite hypnotic. And if we do the practice with sincerity and diligence it will unable us to realize our devinity. She says that once we accept the concept of Higher Self, or soul or Inner Light, then we should idenify with nothing else but this source. She also suggests that identification with the Light within connects us to the divinity we share with others.

My conviction is that through the use of this practice we can build a spiritual foundation for ourselves in our daily life.

This book is also available in expanded version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Help Bring Light into the World, March 25, 2003
By
Julie McKay (Kootenay Bay, BC, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Divine Light Invocation: A Healing Meditation (Paperback)
This book is small enough to put in your pocket or purse, but big enough to change your life. It describes how to do a standing meditation practice where you visualize yourself filled with light, then open your heart and see this light protecting and blessing people you care about, or those in need, and even the souls of those who have died. I find the Divine Light Invocation a positive influence, even in events like world conflict, where I would otherwise feel helpless. The practice also helps me stay focused and centered. Clear, simple instructions! I highly recommend it.
