Cult classic,
This review is from: Divine Madness: Archetypes of Romantic Love (Paperback)
This book has had a huge and vocal following since it was first published in 1990. It uses stories from some of the world's greatest literature to discuss in serious depth, the flights of ecstasy and also the depths of despair that so often fill the romantic-love relationships of all us humans. And it shows us what and how we can learn from both the flame of merger, and the knife of separation.
Not to be missed.

JUNGIAN VISION OF LOVE,
By
This review is from: Divine Madness: Archetypes of Romantic Love (Paperback)
John R. Haule
Divine Madness: Archetypes of Romantic Love (Boston, MA: Shambhala, 1990) 301 pages Another book of Jungian archetypes, exploring the literature and religion of a few hundred years ago. We 'fall in love' with the other part of our personalities, our shadows, anima or animus. We should not actually be so surprised that it works so well, because the image we 'fall in love' with is just the projection of the other side of our own personalities. This book will probably only interest committed Jungians. It fails to make connections with our lives as we actually live them. If you are interested in love, you will find other reviews on the Internet: "The Best Books Critical of Romantic Love". James Leonard Park, existential philosopher |
