This book is small but powerful, small enough to stuff in a bag and read on the plane from Baltimore to San Diego. It's a little bigger than a 5 x 7 photo, and only108 pages. It includes a CD of Doreen discussing the concepts in the book, so you are getting a double package. (It is NOT a meditative CD like it says in Amazon's writeup.) And, the book and CD are clear and easy to understand, as are all of Doreen's books and CDs. So, if you're going to tell me, "I don't have time to read," then fine. Listen to the CD a couple of times in the car on the way to work until you find the time to read the book. (You know darned well you FIND the time for what you REALLY want to do anyway!)

In this little bombshell, Angel Lady writes her interpretation of the Hermetic manual, The Kybalion, a classic esoteric self-help book, first published in 1908. Hermes Trismegistus was a great spiritual teacher in ancient Egypt who wrote and lectured about the ability of the MIND to create and heal.

The CD has 7 tracks, explaining the Kybalion and the Seven Sacred Secrets. Doreen tells us we all have special powers from the Divine. We can learn how to harness them by studying these secrets.

The 7 Principles are: 1) MENTALISM (the Universe is mental, held in the mind of The All) Spirit is The All; Using the Laws of the Universe to rise above the lower vibrations of pain and suffering to live life in the higher vibrations, and above pain and suffering. 2 ) CORRESPONDENCE "As above, so below and as below, so above". 3 ) VIBRATION (everything vibrates. Slower vibrations are matter; highest are Spiritual. You can hold thoughts and emotions so they vibrate at a higher level and gain control over that which affects your life. Called "Induction and telepathy," you can not only affect your vibration, but directly affect the vibration of others. 4 ) POLARITY (2 extremes of the pole--hot and cold are 2 extremes of the pole "temperature". Move a visualized lever to the side of the pole you want and away from the end you don't want. 5) RHYTHM (everything moves up and down the pole in rhythm). 6) CAUSE and EFFECT (nothing happens by chance) 7) GENDER (recognizing and balancing the male and female energies within you.)

Live life in a higher vibration??? Affect the vibrations of others??? Oh, yeah, right! Sure!

OK. Now that you're done laughing, pick yourself up off the floor and think about it!

The next time you see somebody come into a room with a bad attitude (and please don't let it be you), WATCH the dynamics. OBSERVE! Watch how that one bad attitude has a domino effect on the person who gets dumped on, then the entire room. Then the dumpee dumps on somebody else, and so on. If you're fortunate enough to see the polarity (the opposite), OBSERVE the dynamics when a really pleasant person comes into a room. When you choose to (yes, I said CHOOSE to) be pleasant and happy and at peace, you are living at a higher vibration. That higher vibration not only passes to others but it helps to repel negative vibrations from you. If really you want to do this: 1) BELIEVE it to be so, and 2) Work on getting rid of any negative vibrations you now hold (fear, jealousy, anger, greed, control, etc.) 3) Buy the book and begin to work with these principles. It is NOT an overnight process, but if you're interested, just START!

Note: It takes DAILY work and committment to function at a higher vibration. (By the way, if you have any really negative friends, you may want to think about the amount of time you spend with them.)

Now don't think you can slide by on the little bit I wrote here and not buy the book. I just gave you 50 cents worth of the dollar store version. Get the book. You need the details. Doreen provides a lot of good info here. It's worth the little bit of money. You probably just spent more on your dinner! Spend some $$$ on your MIND and SPIRIT! Doreen Virtue's "Divine Magic" explains in very clear and understandable terms the core of the 7 hermetic principles (mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, gender). She presents ancient universal wisdom in such a way that it can be applied to one's everyday life, in order to manifest positive effects in every aspect of it. She has clarified the original text (named the Kybalion, written around 1900) so we can assimilate it more easily with our 21st century minds. Again and again, I really appreciate the way Doreen Virtue presents metaphysical subjects in her very personal, down-to-earth practical way. The accompanying CD is also very good. Check out the 4th hermetic principle, use it and see your world become lighter and brighter !

If this is your first magic book, then I would say it covers a lot. Most of this for me was review. All the principles are the same everywhere- creative visualization, positive thinking. I did read the whole book because it is short, and I like that it was precise.

My favorite part was the lever exercise, to always check your mental levels, that alone for me was worth the book because it's the first time I read about checking your "levels" in your imagination.

COmes with a CD that I thought was a manifestation meditation and all it was was her reading the book on CD/. SO disappointed in that.

I enjoyed reading and putting into action the seven spiritual laws of manifestation as outlined in the book Divine Magic (Hay House Classics), I have actually Studied The Emerald Tablet and I feel that Doreen Virtue has made the work much clearer and more practical to use in this time. I have had wonderful insights and results from working with the message in this book. Well written and quite powerful. The added bonus of a CD is terrific.

I am not someone who believes in all the stuff about angels, but I chanced upon this book and am really happy with it. There really isn't any angel stuff in here, just very relevent and to the point Hermanic wisdom. And the wisdom is fantastic. I highly recommend this book to any spiritual seeker

Excellent and clear presentation by Doreen Virtue to change your whole way of thinking and thus change your life. Gives a new perspective which can be put into practice each day in every situation. Wonderful!

This book explains the human and universal existance. It answers many questions we have and goes beyond what we would even think to ask. I believe it's a must read to learn the ancient knowledge that has been shut down by the coming of Christianity.

I bought this book mainly for the cd thinking it would be a good manifestation meditation. The jacket led me to think it was something other than Doreen basically reading the book. It actually says on cover that it is a meditative cd. I dont agree.If you are looking for a good manifestion meditation cd you will be disapointed. Book is ok though but i would check it out at library or buy used if i could do it over.

I just recently have learned about the Kybalion, even though I am still a total novice towards it. Nonetheless, I learned from this book a lot of practical, new techniques for keeping a positive outlook and creating more beautiful things in my life. It's a book I feel I need to read again and again to gain more knowledge and understanding. A very fun, enchanting read. I love how Dr. Virtue uses quotes from the original Kybalion and then discusses her interpretation. This makes me feel I'm getting the real deal and then the bonus is that it gets to be interpreted by such a lovely, informed person.

I've been a spiritual seeker for a number of years, but, I'm new to Doreen Virtue's work. In fact, this is the first book of hers that I've had the pleasure of reading, and, I am overjoyed at having discovered such an inteligent, well spoken writer. Her translation is erudite yet accessable enough for use in daily meditation. This is undoubtedly one of the best books on spiritual philosophy I've ever read. I look forward to reading the rest of her body of work.
