Pastor Wayne has done a masterful job weaving in the practice of daily bible reading (self - feeding) with the power of the bible on his own life. This book will get you started on a most powerful spiritual journey and is well worth the price. Even if you already journal, this book will inspire you and give fresh insight. Pastor Wayne's life and ministry are what they are due to his diligent reading of God's word and his open heart to being mentored by the divine ONE. I recommend this book to you without reservation.

I have been doing daily devotions and journals since I attended New Hope in Hawaii. My husband used to read bible randomly. Even he seeks for God's words very frequently and knows many scriptures; he did not understand why I tried to have a quiet time just between God and me before I start my day in the mornings. I was sometimes bothered or interrupted and once I missed the timing, it's hard to focus on the Words.

I gifted this book to my husband. He read it in a day. After he understands why, how and when we need to listen to God, he was willing to start own. Now, we individually have quality time with the Lord, share our thoughts together and pray for each other. This book definitely brings peace and blessings to our lives. You will be surprised how powerful this book is!

Many people think of reading the bible but never do. Others want a deeper relationship with Christ but don't know how and sadly, many church leaders aren't helping these days. Thank goodness for Wayne Cordeiro and this book. In it, he weaves in wonderful stories while sharing his devotional method for reading the scriptures. Whether you are a night owl, an early riser, or somewhere in between; a lifelong bible reader or a new beginner, Cordeiro's book will help you get started in the life changing habit of DAILY bible study. "Self-Feeding" truly is the way to deepen your spiritual life. This book will be included in those we use in our church's discipleship program because of it's quick read, rock solid facts, and easy but powerful system of study. Don't just pick up one copy but get a few so you have some to give away after you read it.

This book is excellent. After I read it, I bought 3 more and gave them away as gifts along with the Life Journals. It's not a long book, it is a quick easy read and it will change your life. This book will give new meaning and life to your devotions/quiet time.

In this book, Wayne Cordeiro endorses what is the well-spring of his spiritual practice. Pastor Cordeiro helps you through the process of learning to become a spiritual self-feeder. Gone are the days where you can complain you aren't being fed at church. Take up the responsibility for your own spiritual growth and allow this book to challenge and grow you. The journaling process outlined by the author is a time tested one that he uses to great effect in his personal life and in his church's ministry. Pick up this book, start journaling, and start growing in God's Word!

This was a great help to me in learning not to rush God when I am spending my daily time with Him. It encourages consitency when reading God's Word and demands that we must receive what God is trying to tell "me" each day. He brings up a great point that calls us not to study the Bible during our devotions, but rather let the Bible study us; our thoughts, intentions, and hearts. If we want to grow strong in the faith, one of the habits we must develop is to sit at the feet of God and hear from His Word so that He can direct our lives. Wayne does an awesome job of conveying this message.

I'm actually going to buy at least three more to keep at hand. Many Christians that I know don't understand that the Scriptures tell us to train ourselves and use the Scriptures daily. We don't learn passively. You fight the way you train and train the way you want to fight. Eating His bread weekly on Sunday is not enough when the enemy of man is at work 24-7. Pastor Wayne, I can't thank you enough for this awesome technique.

Wayne Cordeiro, is an International Church of the Foursquare Gospel pastor, in Hawaii. He promotes personal interaction in the Word of God for all ages in his congregation. This book is an introduction to the importance for devotions and a tool called the SOAP Journal. It is a systematic way to read through the Bible and record what God says to you personally.

S - SCRIPTURE: What Scripture or Scriptures stood out to you?
O - OBSERVATION: What stood out to you in the passage?
A - APPLICATION: What does the passage mean to you and what are you going to do about it?
P - PRAYER: Talk to God about what you learned.

I would recommend this book and the SOAP Journal for new and experienced believers!

Many books out there offer the newest and best way to do things, to have a great spiritual life or whatever. What makes this book great is the simple call back to what's most important. There is a reason that when people ask, "How do I become closer to God?" the most common response is "Read your Bible." Many just play this off as the Sunday school cop out answer, but the reason that it has been the answer for so long, is because it's true! If you want to learn about God, listen in on the stories of his people, allow yourself to be transformed by the life of Jesus, and be challenged to take discipleship to the next level, it's all in Scripture for us.

Wayne Cordeiro has done a great job of reminding us all of this and giving a very simple, easy to remember way to read Scripture, but to do more than just read--to allow Scripture to get inside of you, to transform you. He even gives ideas about how to incorporate this plan into small group settings so people can grow together, through the same Scriptures. I think it's a great plan, a program that will be easy to implement and highly effective as a base for small group ministry.

Cordeiro's book isn't a hard read. It's refreshing. You will probably be able to finish this book rather quickly, but his word pictures, stories, and illustrations will help call you back to the one thing that is truly needed in the life of a Christian--to sit at the feet of Jesus.
