Historically important for any student of World Religions, December 21, 1998
This review is from: Divine Principle (Paperback)
Controversial man with controversial moves... True: this book may be difficult to follow--particularly if one tries without prayer and/or without a guide. But The Divine Principle is one of the top 5 books that I would take with me wherever I go in the world (together with The Bible, The I-Ching, The Bhagavad Gita and The Qur'an). This '77 edition may be out of print, but current editions are available at any Unificationist center, in any major city, around the world. Read it with prayer, and determine for yourself, to what extent it is Truth-full. "IT IS TIME!"

A massive improvement, February 19, 2000
This review is from: Divine Principle (Paperback)
This edition is well footnoted and is much easier to read than the previous edition. It is not, however, for everyone. This book may be too difficult for children, teens, and non-scholarly types.

Pure Poppycock!, January 27, 2012
This review is from: Divine Principle (Paperback)
This book is absolutely ridiculous. It is nothing more than the mental projections of a very confused man with a Messianic complex. Moon has never practiced what he preaches. He is a SERIAL ADULTERER who has fathered illegitimate children. Divorce is very taboo in the unification "church" and yet Moon's first wife threw him out and divorced him because he wouldn't stop having sex with and impregnating young girls! He'd gotten this first wife pregnant and then vanished for 6 years and didn't pay a single penny in child support. She took him back in when he showed up suddenly after those 6 yrs. but wouldn't stop committing adultery with other young girls. She finally threw him out and divorced him. He didn't have any say in the matter. If Moon were truly the wise man his followers believe him to be wouldn't he have used a condom while he was committing adultery with those young girls? That way at least there wouldn't be the evidence all around in the form of illegitimate children he's fathered proving that he is a hypocrite. He lays down extremely difficult rules of moral conduct for his followers but doesn't bother to adhere to any of those rules himself. Moon even likes to gamble in Las Vegas! He sends his followers out to work countless hours collecting money by selling flowers and trinkets on street corners and then that money goes to support his gambling habit and his son's drugs, alcohol and prostitutes!!!
He also broke the heart of his second wife by continuing his adulterous ways. Moon claims that Jesus appeared to him personally and pleaded with him to continue his work on Earth. That is why he CALLS himself "Reverend" even though he isn't one. i:e: Moon never went to seminary and he doesn't have a degree in theology. Claiming to be a reverend is another one of his lies. He also claims that the dead presidents totally support his ideas ( not to mention Buddha, Lao Tzu etc). The problem with that is that we can't go to a dead president or other deceased notable and ask them of it's true or not. Moon is careful to say things like this that can't possibly be fact checked. We just have to trust his "wisdom." We all just have to accept that he's psychic and can communicate with the dead on the astral plane etc. Anyone who would believe a single word he says is extremely naive.
His own kids are extremely dysfunctional. His eldest son Hyo Jin viciously beat his wife for 14 years. She was only 15 when Moon rewarded his sociopathic son with his new bride. Hyo Jin was an out of control alcoholic and drug addict who regularly hired prostitutes. The very day she married Hyo Jin, he gave his 15 year old virgin bride an incurable case of genital herpes that he'd gotten from one of his Hookers. Hyo Jin had also taken a BB Gun to school and shot up his classmates with it and got expelled and Moon rewards his darling son with automatic weapons instead! Where's the wisdom in that? He had a collection of 60 plus assault rifles when the judge ordered him to sell them to pay child support. Hyo Jin was claiming that he was broke even though his father, the supposed Messiah is a Billionaire. His mother would bring shopping bags full of cash, as much as $600,000 at a time to him and he'd blow it on drugs. He even admitted this to the judge at his trial for refusing to pay child support. He claims he and his wife to be the "True Parents' of the world and yet they can't even parent their own kids effectively.
Moon went to prison for tax evasion and yet he continues to evade paying his taxes. One of Moon's sons was so depressed that he committed suicide by hurling himself out of a hotel window at a casino in Reno, Nevada. Moon claims to be the "True Messiah" but it's hard to believe Jesus' son committing suicide if he'd had one.
Now I ask all of his followers to prove me wrong on a single point I've mentioned here. Moon's daughter and daughter in law went on 60 Minutes and denounced him. His daughter in law wrote a book detailing all of the outrageous behavior of these people. It is an amazing read. Moon's daughter says that it is all true. It is titled: In the Shadow of the Moon's by Nansook Hong. The cat's out of the bag! So why are any of his followers still hanging on? The brainwashing techniques he uses are the same as the ones the the North Korean communists use to deconstruct a person't identity and create a new one. Very cunning and very sinister.
To his followers I ask them to ask themselves this question: What in the world is spiritual or holy about any of This??? How in the world can you believe a single word he says knowing what a gross hypocrite the man is? Why would you accept this man as your spiritual guide through life?
Knowing all this about Moon how in the world can you remain with him? How can you possibly believe that such a person is the Messiah???
ACTIONS speak louder than words and Moons actions speak volumes about the type of person he REALLY is.
I challenge anyone to disprove a single point made here. First read his daughter in law's book (I reviewed that book too) and watch the 60 Minutes segment with Moon's own daughter and daughter in law and then respond. This may seem harsh but it is all true. I welcome your response. Moon himself has brought this on by his own bad behavior.
