About the Author
After studying photography at Appalachian State University and the University of Western Sydney in Australia, Brooke Mayo worked with Joyce Tenneson and Lois Greenfield in New York City. Since starting the Diving Doggies project in 2007, Mayo compiled a sizable archive of different breeds and locations. Submissions to magazines including Urban Dog, Rangefinder, Underwater Photography, and Bark magazine have yielded several feature articles, while also introducing the photo community (and broader readerships) to an untouched segment of photography. The concept is exciting because it brings forward a great human (and animal) interest story. Readers and viewers have a deep appreciation for, and familiarity with, their dogs. Diving Doggies sets out to humanize our best friends, because we too can see a bit of ourselves when they make that splash.
