Simply brilliant,

I have written a couple of reviews for other albums on here, and I am amazed at the incredible brililance and quality of some (Alter Bridge- Blackbird; Hurt- VOl. II), but not all, of the rock released over the past 12 months out. Division from 10 years is quite simply, astounding.
I am not even quite sure how to articulate how good Division is, other than to say that it is so complex, layered, emotional, and brilliant, that it would just make me downright sick to my stomach if this album does not become an essential rock album for every single person in America who calles themselves a hard rock fan. I don't know what is happening to rock in America- it seems like albums such as Division should sell 20 million copies given it's quality, but I don't know. I certainly hope it provides big success for the band. For anyone remotely considering purchasing this album, By all means, please purchase it with all deliberate speed, and listen to it a few times. let it sink in. You will find that songs you initially thought were brilliant, stay that way, and get better, and other songs on the album that you might not have thought were brilliant initially, will envelop you with the layers, textures, and soaring vocals, and will stay with you all day and night. It is exactly what happened to me. Into my third listen, I just opened my eyes, and said, "This is brilliant." I honestly believe that you will be grateful that you got it. I have said this before about some other albums, major marketing muscle needs to be put behind this album- the label needs to make an investment here. People need to be exposed to this band. Thank you all for reading, and i hope you enjoy Division as much as I did.

Good Sophomore Effort from an Underrated Band,
By Dan H. (Minnesota) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Division (Audio CD)
First of all, these guys are extremely underrated. Not many people have heard of 10 years and that is a shame because they write damn good music. Division is on the softer side when compared to their debut, but the songs are written very well and they are very deep. There are alot more acoustic and clean-toned interludes on this album than previously, but I would not say that is a con. The lyrics are amazing and that is to be expected, Hasek really knows how to write powerful and rich lyrics. The production on the album is also amazing. Great record! A must have!

Very impressive production,

Just saw this band at Rock on the Range and I have to say, they were fantastic. I had never heard of them until I saw their name in the lineup and I'm really glad I didn't miss them. Their sound is heavy but melodic and well written. I highly recommend this band and hope that they overcome their underrated status because they are very much deserving. Phenomenal overall production and now that I'm on board as a big fan, I'll be spreading the word as well. Check these guys out! You won't be disappointed!

One word.....Amazing,

Division is one of the most perfect cd's I have ever heard. From start to finish I was amazed at the musicianship and Jesse's vocals. The stand out tracks for me are 11:00 AM DayDramer, Russian Roulette, Just Can't Win, Picture Perfect, and All Your Lies. Check out So Long, Goodbye, it is the most beautiful song they have ever written. Before listening to it I didn't know what to expect and I was hoping it was going to be as good as the Autumn Effect, but I was amazed and I like it better. If you like 10 years or just appreciate music, buy this!!!!

Beautiful, aggresive, and inspiring.,
By S. Stanton (Maryland, USA) - See all my reviews

Honestly, when i first heard "Beautiful" months and months ago i was a little skeptical. The song for a while just sounded a little boring and bland... but over time i grew to really appreciate the message and overall vibe the song presents. When i bought the album and as soon as i gave it 1 listen through... i was sold. It was well worth the long wait that i was extremely anxious for. The cd takes you on a journey from start to finish, through the diversity this album presents. Jesse Hasek's voice and lyrics are astounding and extremely inspiring. This record has really made me look at my own songwriting skills in a different way. Easily one of my favorite cd's ever. I don't think i will be able to ever pick out favorites from the album i love them all!

Not exactly a step up, but definitely not a sophomore slump,

Let me just start by saying that I absolutely loved every second of 10 Years' debut album, "The Autumn Effect." Although they came off as an obvious Tool/Perfect Circle wanna-be, they pulled it off nicely. Their ability to write creative hooks with beautiful melodies, and also rock out here and there, made them one of my favorite new bands.
After a long wait, we finally have the band's sophomore album, "Division." I wasn't really sure what direction the band would go in order to step up their game, especially since "Autumn Effect" sounded more like a 2nd or 3rd album anyway. For the most part, it seems the band has maintained their previous style, but with a few twists here and there. Songs like "Beautiful," "11:00am," "Russian Roulette," and "Picture Perfect" easily sound like they could've been on the first album. Then there are songs that are similar, but take on a more typical radio rock sound like "Actions & Motives" and "Just Can't Win." Then we have a couple songs that sound completely different like "Focus" and "Proud Of You," which are definitely more on the experimental side. On my first 2 listens, I enjoyed the album, but felt that it failed to achieve the same magic as The Autumn Effect. I kinda felt like they had taken a step towards sounding like everyone else in their genre. But after a couple more listens, you begin to really love all the songs. "Actions & Motives" is a good example, I thought it was mediocre at first but now I love it. This has become one of my favorite albums of 2008, but I still don't think it's quite as good as The Autumn Effect. But if you really loved that album, then I think you'll enjoy this one to.

3rd Great CD from 10 Years....,
By
This review is from: Division (Audio CD)
10 Years is a great band. I didn't realize this at first because I heard the "Autumn Effect" first. What really got me into this band was hearing their first independant release, "Killing All That Holds You", still their best CD if I may say so. But after hearing that, you can see the evolution in this band and their going to be big one of these days, sort of like a Pearl Jam. So anyway, I recommend getting this CD, "Division", and if you can, get the Best Buy version with 2 more great tracks. Hope the next CD don't take so long the next time. "So Long, Good-Bye".
