This group is phenomenal. Their voices and harmonies are excellent and they sound and look great. This cd is really good and it's been a long wait to actually 'see' them perform. I'm not usually a fan of opera, but these guys bring about something special to this genre and some of it might be to do with their look and their youth, but I don't think anyone could really deny the talent these guys have. See, Simon is usually correct. This is a great dvd.

Great DVD. I loved the fact that we heard the story behind the creation of Il Divo. To hear about their backgrounds and how they began to blend their voices and create a sound that is truly appreciated by all is incredible to me. They continue to get better as they branch out into a slightly different sound as each CD/DVD comes out. I can't compare their voices to any I've heard before. Simon Cowell is a genious when it comes to finding new talent and he was right on the mark when he had this vision for Il Divo. I recommend this DVD to all who wish to discover and appreciate just what it takes to find unknown talent, realize their potential and have a vision as to how that talent will take the world by surprise. Il Divo did and will continue to for years to come.

The pop/opera group IL DIVO have finally released a performance DVD following two singles. This was shot at the Teatro Romano de Merida in Spain, and released ahead of the 'boys' embarking on their first ever concert tour around the globe. Much of the content is that on their CD 'Ancora', and the DVD includes the previously released singles 'Mama'and 'Regresa A Mi'. IL DIVO has brought a breath of fresh air to the music scene. Their classical trained voices combine beautifully and the five new numbers presented here leave us wanting more. On the down side however is the stereo audio. Surely this warranted DD5.1 audio? I also felt let down by their choice of songs in that there is very little difference in tempo between them. Fans will love it but it could have been that much better.

The music is excellent, the scenery is fitting for the magnificent voices. I had hoped this would be more of a long play concert, but there were only a few songs in the regular track of the DVD. You have to navigate through a couple sub menus to play videos, commentaries, etc. I was hoping for something that you could just hit play and let it play for a long time, but this DVD requires some more fiddling to get the music. That's fine if you're sitting to watch it, but less helpful if you wanted it to just play for a while in the background.

A five star DVD, a worldwide release date, and not to be found in the US! It's disgraceful!!

I didn't realize what I was purchasing when I bought this dvd. But after listening to it for the first time, I was stunned by the beauty and blend of their voices. This is not just for the classical music listener, I usually listen to easy listening records and some pop music, but this group takes listening to music to another level. And they are great on the eyes as well. I am planning to purchase all of their cds and have pre-purchased their new cd & dvd as well. What a fantastic Christmas present I am giving myself.

I purchased this DVD fully expecting a full concert by this excellent quartet. I was extremely disappointed to only receive a total of 6 songs which are repeated in the hour long dialogue. If you enjoy all the history, this may be ok with you. The sound tracks of the dialogue are out of sinc with the picture. While I enjoy the 6 songs, I feel the expectation of a full concert left me extremely disappointed and the feeling of getting ripped off. I would hesitate before I spent the money.

This group is a phenomenom. I recently had the pleasure of seeing them at Radio City Music Hall, and they were enthralling. When I saw that a DVD was available, I immediately ordered one for myself and one for my sister. It was a fabulous find, and my husband and myself enjoy watching and listening to them. I must say that Simon Cowell knows his stuff inasmuch as he is the one that put this group together. Long live Il Divo! I look forward to their future CD's & hopefully, DVD's.

I only wish that the concert portion of the DVD had more songs than just the ones included. From the way it was edited, it was obvious that the studio tracks were used in the post production of the DVD, instead of the live audio recorded during the concert in Spain. That's why occasionally the lip sync doesn't exactly match up- and why a close-up suddenly changes to a wide-angled view of the incredible location where they are performing.
The studio recordings sound better, so they were a better choice, turning this concert into a "concept concert." Watch it a few times, and you'll get past that quickly.

What makes up for this is the commentaries and behind-the-scene interviews with the guys of Il Divo. Simon Cowell describes the process of putting the band together, and the guys even describe each other- what a kick!

When I heard the first CD last spring, I wondered why the vocal tracks were buried beneath the orchestra, and why these incredible voices were not better used- answer? They had only been together for TWO DAYS before Simon put them into the studio to record "IL DIVO!"

I liked the album, and the solo singers, but I said, "Give them a year, and they're gonna be extrordinary," and I'd say they've majorly improved their ability to sing as an ensemble in such a short time. If you watch them speak of the group, it seems that they'd be the first to agree.

As someone else noted, if you are going, purchase the DVD before you go to the concert. If you're not a fan, purchase ANCORA (the new album) and listen to these guys sing!

The performance was beautiful - wonderful. But I was really surprised and disappointed that there were only five songs on the DVD. I hadn't realized when buying it that it was such a "mini" performance. Other than that, though, it was very lovely.
