fantastic sequel to "The Boy Friend",
By Byron Kolln (the corner where Broadway meets Hollywood) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (TOP 100 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Divorce Me, Darling! (1997 Chichester Cast) (Audio CD)
DIVORCE ME DARLING is a fantastic sequel to Sandy Wilson's smash-hit classic THE BOY FRIEND. This recording is from the acclaimed 1997 Chichester Festival production.Polly Browne (Ruthie Henshall) and her friends from finishing school meet up on the Riviera 10 years later to have a little fun without their husbands. Those marriages rushed into at the costume ball that concludes THE BOY FRIEND look uncertain and rocky in hindsight. The cast includes Marti Webb, David Alder, Jack Tripp, Simon Butteriss, Kevin Colson, Joan Savage, Andrew Halliday, Rosemarie Ford and Tim Flavin. There is also Liliane Montevicchi as Madame Dubonnet and Linzi Hateley as Hortense. The musical is every bit as good as THE BOY FRIEND, and the two shows are often presented in double-bills to link the story together. Stand-out songs include "The Paradise Hotel", "No Harm Done", "Here am I, But Where's the Guy?", "On the Loose", "Lights! Music!" and "Blondes are for Danger". (JAY)
