5.0 out of 5 stars Excellant guide. Read at your FIRST thought of a divorce., September 26, 1999

This review is from: Divorce: A Guide for Men (Hardcover)
I found this book at the library some months AFTER my divorce.

FORTUNATELY I had accidentally followed much of his advice as circumstances occured. I did win custody of my children.

This book predicted all events and tactics that were used against me. Never count on an "impartial" sociallist services recommendation. They WILL rule for the wife. As predicted by this book they recommended for the wife using stereotypical "facts" and convoluted reasoning to do so.

MUST reading prior to the very first "temporary" custody hearing. You must look at "temporary" as it were your kids' Super Bowl. It is. MUST reading for you prior to either party taking up a separate residence. If you have any idea your spouse might be planning a move, READ THIS BOOK PRIOR to that move.

If you read one book, make it this one.

Not only is there excellant PRACTICABLE advice within, but you will find the author included some parts that either accidentally or on purpose make humor of certain situations:

(paraphrased in my own words years later as of course my local library system does not have a copy of this book to refer)

[You know your wife only wants the kids due to the financial security of child support. You know your wife would be miserable with the children ... they would cut into her social life. It would be most vengeful to acceed to her request and stick her with custody of the kids. But alas you have to think of the best interest of the children and pursue custody of them.]

I found ONE library branch, in ONE library system that carries this book.

Most libraries carry dozens of divorce guides for women.

Most libraries carry dozens of divorce guides for making the divorce less traumatic for children.

They always advise Dad to be an excellant non-custodial father - give custody to Mom in order to avoid a "traumatic" court battle, pay lots of child support, ignore all of Mom's shortcomings, always be ready to rescue the children by providing support to their Mom, or money to their Mom, accept each of the Mom's line of boyfriends as a knight in white armour.

This book help prepare you to battle courts' and Sociallist Service Agencie' self serving stereotypes as to what is best for the children. And there are always stereotypes that are used. If you do "Black" there will be a stereotype to use against you with. If you do "White" there will be a stereotype to paint you with. This book helps prepare you.

I'm ordering two copies for my present city of residence. One for a local domestic relations lawyer and one for the library system. I'm looking to see if the the library can find room for it on the shelves amongst all of their divorce guides for women.
