Wendy Jaffe, a former divorce lawyer and daughter of prominent Beverly Hills divorce attorney Daniel J. Jaffe, set out on a quest to interview 100 prominent divorce lawyers all over the United States. Her mission was to uncover why some marriages succeed and others fail, and ultimately, what each partner can do to increase their chances of success. These attorneys contributed hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars of their valuable time to help Jaffe unlock the secrets of successful marriages. Their advice goes much deeper than simple "dos and don'ts." It digs deeply into the issues that affect every marriage: money, children, sex, extended families, communication and more.
Whether you are contemplating your first marriage or in the middle of your third, this book will give you a new perspective into what makes a marriage work!

Great Gift!,

This review is from: The Divorce Lawyers' Guide to Staying Married (Paperback)
A good friend recommended this book to me, and it has REALLY great advice! I was skeptical, because after all who wants advice from lawyers :-) but the lawyers in this book were exceptionally thoughtful and insightful.
The author has interviewed over 100 divorce lawyers with thousands of years of experience and came up with some excellent advice as to how to avoid ending up at their office at the end of the day. I find myself talking about tips from the book all the time to my friends. It is a great reminder that all marriages take work, and that the grass isn't greener ANYWHERE, and that if we want a better marriage that won't lead ultimately to divorce there are simple things that we need to be doing every day to make our marriages more what we want them to be. This book never pretends like marriage is simple. The advice isn't just that standard, "be good to your husband and suddenly they will remember your anniversary" talk, it is really practical and easy to read. I am going to an engagement party this weekend for a good friend, and this is what I'm going to bring as my gift! After all, everyone knows that half of all marriages end in divorce and nobody wants to end up there! Happy reading!

This review is from: The Divorce Lawyers' Guide to Staying Married (Paperback)
When I first saw the title of this book, I was doubtful that there were divorce lawyers who genuinely wanted to see couples save their marriage. After all, divorce is their business and how they make a living. I was pleasantly surprised at the sincerity of the book and the author's desire to help couple's stay married. Thankfully, there are still some honest divorce lawyers out there.
