Editorial Reviews

Review

"Hayward's debut is filled with emotion. The arrogant alpha hero complements and inflames the vulnerable yet steely heroine, and an articulate narrative mixes ribald humour with tense drama and presents the searing lovemaking to perfection." - Romantic Times Magazine 4.5 star review

"This book shows none of the signs of a debut author. It's polished, has terrific flow and sticks to the Harlequin Presents sensibility while offering a slightly more evolved hero and a truly entertaining, quick read. I'm really looking forward to reading more from you, I think you've got a really bright future in the genre." - Dear Author - September 2013 Recommended Read

Lily wants a divorce even though she loves her husband. It is time to end it she believes she can't take any more of the high society judgements. Ricardo doesn't want a divorce to him his marriage is far from over. So he is not giving up without a fight though it will be a fight for his love. He makes a stipulation of sorts with Lily to give him time to woo her again. In the process they both learn more about each other, as well as learn to be more open to each other. It is a lovely story of overcoming relationship issues to save a loving and passionate marriage. I highly recommend this book.

Jennifer Hayward's first book was most definitely a winner. An alpha male, but one that realized he had done wrong in regards to a wife that had issues being in the limelight of the public. Add in a health condition the alpha didn't know about and you get a slightly more attentive husband more than willing to make up for his past.

I loved this book! This is Jennifer Hayward's debut book and winner of Harlequins 2012 So You Think a You Can Write competition! I personally can't wait for her next book. Riccardo and Lilly are strong characters who are on the verge of finalizing their divorce when Riccardo comes up with a deal Lilly can't turn down. Reconcile for 6 months then she can walk away. Read this book and to see what happens. I'm really hoping Jennifer gives Alex, Gabe and Mattao get their HEA.

A good debut story. I liked the characters and the plot. The writing style is smooth and I can see many good books from her in the future. Some issues were not dealt with. The H does not mention the OG and whether she slept with him or not and the h does not make him aware of the anguish she feels at his kissing the OW. A more frank discussion was needed to clear these issues. But a good story which I enjoyed

Excellent debut book for this author cant wait to read future books. Lilly and Riccardo fight through all types of emotional scars to build a relationship that gives them both peace. They both owned up to their role in the break down of their marriage and battled their personal demons til they were completely honest wi th n each other

I can see why this book won Harlequins now-annual So You Think You Can Write contest in 2012. It's a great, quick read (typical of HP novels), but it had some depth to it that surprised me.

I have to say, I love Lilly. I mean, c'mon. Pissed off as she left Riccardo, she tossed her engagement ring off the Brooklyn Bridge. That's just awesome, IMO. She had some emotional scars and apparently was still trying to recover from an eating disorder. That's a topic not often covered in a category romance. I think Ms. Hayward paid it admirable attention, and showed that it's not just a "Okay, I'm not going to be that way any more" thing to recover from, but takes years and possibly even a lifetime of struggle to survive and thrive after.

Riccardo...yeah. Typical HP alpha jerk. The alpha jerks are half the reason I read these books - they're yummy! But he gets better and learns to communicate more than just grunting and ordering Lilly around.

I liked how they worked through the problems that had erupted between them to destroy their marriage initially. The only thing I really didn't care for was the pre-eclampsia issue. Lilly was barely pregnant, no more than 3 months along, and she developed incredibly severe pre-eclampsia. I'm sorry, but pre-eclampsia generally doesn't start until the second half of the pregnancy. This was waaaay too early for it to be showing up. But other than that, I ached for poor Lily and the potential of losing her baby, and her husband.

Altogether, I loved this book and I'm eager to read more of Ms. Hayward's work. A great debut from an awesome author. I'm looking forward to seeing more from her in the future.

Total 4-star rating from me!
