The following is taken from a point near the end of the third chapter on "Aura Lea's" history.

... The song "Aura Lea" again surfaced in a 1936 movie Come and Get It, in the 1952 movie The Last Musketeer and once more in 1955 on sound track of movie about Westpoint, The Long Gray Line.

During 1956 when Elvis Presley started his first motion picture, Love Me Tender, it was suggested that an authentic melody of the Civil War be used. Since the plot line of the movie portrayed a postwar family, to this end, Elvis Presley and Vera Matson collaborated in writing new lyrics for George Poulton's tune. Thus "Aura Lee" became the 1956 rock-n-roll hit single,"Love Me Tender," one of Elvis' best selling songs, out selling 80 percent of all of his other tunes.
