Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

She said Dixon pencils are very good and was happy with it.
D. Stines
The lead is broken in some of the pencils so when you sharpen them it falls out.
Teacher
The eraser made a mess, and did not do its job of erasing the words well.

Please don't make the same mistakes/assumptions I did. I made the mistake of getting Dixon-Ticonderoga and Ticonderoga mixed up in my head. Then, I ASSumed that if Ticonderoga was good, Dixon-Ticonderoga pencils would also be good. And, finally, I thought that Dixon and Ticonderoga were now the same company. To this moment, I really don't know what the correlation is between the two companies; all I know is that these DIXON pencils are NOT the same quality as TICONDEROGA pencils! I know this because I bought these DIXON pencils for my son for school and bought myself some black TICONDEROGA pencils at the same time. I got these because there were so many and I figured he would lose pencils throughout the school year, etc. (as he had done in previous years) and that we would need A LOT of these; so much so that I had even put these on the Subscription plan. When I got these and sharpened the first few, they were fine. But, after those first few, the rest are HORRIBLE! They "shred" when you sharpen them and, after a short while, the pencil becomes unusable because of the way the lead is exposed, it makes the pencil lead break every five minutes (totally unacceptable for school because teachers do not like for students to keep getting up sharpening pencils). I thought it might be my sharpener going bad and eating the pencils, but then I remembered that I am having no problem whatsoever sharpening the black Ticonderogas.

And, to add "insult" to injury, my son is NOT losing these :-). He is not getting rid of them fast enough LOLOL.

I am going to buy some Ticonderogas and be done with these, and keep these around the house for homework and/or for emergency use. They are pretty much useless after a short while.

They work well and hold up to 2nd graders! Sharpen easily, good erasers... they're all I'd expect in a pencil!!

Excellent service! Prompt and secure delivery! With children that go to school and are expected to go to school for a while, WHY NOT purchase all the pencils I need for several years. School shopping can be so overwhelming and this box makes it so much easier!

I needed pencils for my classroom. I was very disappointed in these pencils. The erasers frequently broke off the pencils with first use. Some of them had crooked leads and could not be sharpened correctly. I would not recommend these pencils.

I teach fifth grade and I request Ticonderoga pencils on our supply list specifically to keep these pencils out of my classroom. The regular Dixon pencils are a nightmare. As soon as they are sharpened, they break. Sometimes they come out of the pencil sharpener without the lead. It's as if the lead is already broken inside the pencils. I tried multiple pencil sharpeners before I realized that the pencils were the problem. Save yourself the headache and buy Ticonderoga or USA Gold.

I bought a box of 100; with Amazon prime shipping they were cheaper than local office supply stores. All the pencils I've bought through the local stores lately have terrible erasers (my pet peeve). These, on the other hand seem to have good erasers; they don't smudge and do a good job of erasing. Only thing that keeps them from being 5 stars is that they are yet another product of China.

I thought since it was Dixon it could be as good but half the cost. Silly me. They're fine as far as pencils go. They're better than el-cheapo Officemax pencils (for the same price). By no means the best. You DO get what you paid for.

My son is admittedly pretty hard on erasers, but he constantly breaks them off when trying to erase something with these. I tried to tighten the metal that holds the erasers, but it doesn't seem to help. These were OK for the bulk price, but I'll be looking elsewhere when we run out.
