I teach 8th grade math in a title-1 school. Each Monday I hand out progress reports, and with each report that has an A grade I give those students one of these pencils. At my school, these pencils are coveted items.
Dixon calls the Tigonderoga pencils the Best, and for feel, and comfort, and cool factor, these particular Ticonderoga pencils are the best. The only down side... they need a good big-pencil sharpener. The one that
is included is not that good.

I can't believe I'm reviewing a pencil, but this one deserves it. First of all Dixon Ticonderoga no. 2s write so smoothly, and considering the price point for such a smooth writer, (remember this is for 6 boxes of a dozen each-total 72 pencils!), nothing else comes close in this price range. Secondly, this pencil has one of the best erasers I've ever used. I know, I can't believe I'm raving about a pencil eraser either! The triangle-shaped eraser fits snugly in the triangular ferrule with no gaps, nor does the ferrule have sharp edges...and Dixon gives you a lot of eraser per pencil without them seeming too much...just perfect! You can use these in the standard wall sharpeners or electric sharpener that accommodates a slightly larger (one hole larger than the standard round that takes typical no. 2 pencils). Third, the graphite is fairly dark for a no. 2 and certainly lays down a much nicer line than the standard crap no. 2. pencils they put in the school supply packs these days! Lastly, the soft-matte black coating on the outside is super-comfortable to hold! Ok, so six reasons why you should be flocking to store to get these- but they're sometimes hard to find so make it easy on yourself, order online and make sure you have a pencil sharpener on hand that can sharpen these or you'll be bummed out until you do.

These are excellent all-around pencils. They write smoothly and the grip is surprisingly comfortable. The large-diameter triangular shape is ergonomic, and the paint feels soft. The eraser is a high-quality rubber that does not smudge. I use these pencils for everything. There is nothing more frustrating than a poorly made pencil, and for this reason the Tri-Conderoga is worth its price.

Someone asked me when I was telling them to buy this pencil what was so special about a pencil. Well - This pencil rocks. It rocks so much, that not only am I buying multiple packs for myself but also to give out as gifts to several new college students as upcoming Christmas gifts! The barrel is not too large that it feels bulky but is larger than most standard pencils. The grip is so comfy with a matte rubbery finish. It feels so strong and sturdy. I go through one pencil every couple of days and in the 1st week of school I purchased a number of different pencils including the regular black Ticonderoga which I loved as well but have been knocked to 2nd place since finding theses. I have used Dr.P pencils which are great however, once I got this bad boy in my hands I was hooked! Although automatic pencils are more economical in the long run this pencil is completely worth the investment. My hands do not cramp up using this pencil, nor do I get the calused fingers from regular pens/pencils. Also it's kinda cool for me because I work while on the couch and when I put the pencil on the pad it doesn't roll around because of it's triangular shape which seems like it would be akward to write with but is not even noticable. I also have many sharpeners under my belt and the $2.59 from Staples is excellent for this and all other penci sharpening needs.

I've spent so much time trying various pencils and holders trying to coax my daughter into holding her pencil in a way that even begins to approximate a correct grip. We finally happened across these pencils last year, and they're absolutely the best thing we've tried. Not as fat as a preschooler's "fat-pencil", not as skinny as a standard pencil, with a triangular shape that's conducive to correct grip, and a very slightly soft side that makes them more comfortable to use. I haven't had any difficulty with leads breaking (as I have with some of the other Ticonderoga products in the last couple of years), and other than frequent sharpening (my electric sharpener only works with standard pencils) I haven't had any complaints at all.

Even the rest of the family has started reaching for my daughter's pencils!

I am a weekend woodworker, and have a small garage shop full of tools and woodworking machines. My two young children often work with me to make projects, and to learn. I ordered some of these pencils a year or so ago, and they are awesome. I just ordered a batch of 72 here. Should last a while. :) The only problem I have had is, my kids keep stealing the darn things. (Thus, the batch of 72). You do have to have a good pencil sharpener - these won't even fit in the openings in cheap ones. I have an X-Acto Ranger 55 that I also bought on amazon. It works very well and is sturdy and easy to clean out. Great combination.

It fits my hand just right and the quality of the line it puts down is beautiful. The only downsides are that you need a larger than standard pencil sharpener and that the point dulls rather quickly.

I've also found that writing with a pencil is better for me in most applications than either a keyboard or a pen. I like the ability to erase and the satisfaction that comes with writing in cursive.

All in all, this is the nicest writing tool I've ever used.
