Not the original recordings,

This is certainly Tommy Roe, but these are not the original recordings. My guess (from the sound of the rhythm section in particular) is that these recordings were made in the 1980's, and although they attempt to reproduce the original recordings, the performances fall short. In my experience, re-makes rarely manage to equal the original, even when the same artist makes the attempt. Obviously there is some licensing problem with the originals.
My gripe is that nowhere did this CD (or Amazon) state that these were not the original recordings. In fact, this CD gives the listener no information at all about the performer, the songs or the recording. The fact that it is 'digitally remastered' (by whom?) is irrelevent at the very least, and deliberately misleading at the worst. This disc is going in the bin. Don't waste your money on this. |
