Many of these tracks have very aggressive - too aggressive - noise removal. The result is more distracting than the noise would have been. Notes seem to emerge from a tissue box, without much attack.
Of course Django is always great and look how many great but obscure tracks you get. Worth the money, but unbelievably uneven sound.

If you're into Django Reinhardt, look no further! I'm just starting to peel back the layers and this generously-priced collection has ALOT to offer. I got mine the other day and am still working my way through the 10 hours or so Django. I initially feared that the price reflected the quality of the recordings but that simply isn't the case. Every song sounds superb! And, needless to say, Django shines!

This is a sweet set. 10 discs complied from different years. Good mastering. For this price or any price you can not go wrong.

This is an incredible collection of jazz..classic Django and much more. Great combos and soloists including trumpet, sax, mouth organ (harmonica?)and clarinet among others. I only wish there were a way to identify who the players are. Django is obvious, but the others are really talented musicians (without names?). Recordings are good, and variety makes it listenable for hours. The price is an extra bonus.

Wonderful set. The only (monro) complaint I have is the lack of liner notes, so there is no information on when a song was recorded or who the personnel were on the recording. This is a very minor complaint. Te sound quality is excellent. I would definately recommend this set to all Django fans.

I own the 5 CD Chronological set, the Rome set, the Paris set, the late Jazz and the All Star Sessions CDs... along with a couple of old LPs... close to 400 sides, so as you might have surmised, I'm a bit of a Django fan. So most of the songs on this 10 CD set I already had. Still others had Django chunking rhythm to a big band and never taking a solo, so I passed over most of them. Yet, I still dug 68 songs out of this set that I didn't already have. That made it worth the price for me. To top it off, some of the solos are among his most brilliant, in my opinion. My only regret is that the recordings weren't treated with the same respect as in some of the above compilations -- so heavily filtered, attacks were lost and overall energy was compromised. To a diehard like me, who lives for the next Django solo, the scratches only add to the mystique. Overall, though, a good buy. No session details, but I think I can find those when I purchase the Delaunay book.

this collection features over 10 hours of music and is priced at under 20 dollars. of course, the songs must suck and be of terrible sound quality, right? wrong. this is a fantastic value, comes in decent packaging, the sound quality is great for recordings so old, and the songs themselves are great to listen to. any fan of jazz or django MUST get this. it's one of the greatest collections i've come across.

This box set has 10 FULL CDs of the greatest Jazz guitarist of the 20th Century, Django Reinhardt. Yes, it duplicates a lot of material on the two JSP Django box sets, but it has a number of cuts not found there on those releases, and I personally found it worth the investment. No, there aren't any liner notes. No booklet. No description of the other musicians, or when or where these tracks were recorded. It's enough to drive an obsessive Virgo like me crazy! But if it inspires me to research and track and research Django's recorded output month by month and year by year, my life will have been that much richer for it. The sound is sometimes uneven, but that's small consideration all other things taken into account-- TEN discs of Django Reinhardt for UNDER TWENTY DOLLARS!!! What a deal!!!

You can't get a better value than this on Django's stuff. The recordings are not the best but are still listenable.

This 10 disc set is amazing. It is worth 10 times what they are charging. Buy yours today before it is no longer available. You will not be sorry!
