5.0 out of 5 stars The Voice of Brazil!
I love this video more than the other ones with Djavan. It's a very intimate private session with his band & they have a jamming good time. The program is 50 minutes, in full screen with excellent camera and audio work. He is a well known singer of romantic songs, and the lyrics imply "being in-love". 3.0 out of 5 stars Too distant!
I always like all of Djavan offerings. This time he seems distant, alien to the camera. It was produced in a dark atmosphere, with a mistaken sense of intimacy...
The music is superb, no doubt. But the film does not communicate his human side too well, in my opinion. The band looks detached, "ajena".

I love this video more than the other ones with Djavan. It's a very intimate private session with his band & they have a jamming good time. The program is 50 minutes, in full screen with excellent camera and audio work. He is a well known singer of romantic songs, and the lyrics imply "being in-love". In between the songs, Djavan tells his personal stories and about his African experiences and the origins of the songs. Born to sing, Djavan, pronounced "Dee-Jah-Van" is ever young and romantic, even at 58 years old, but he has always looked to be 33. He came from a poor family, but as his mother & sister loved to sing, this inspired him. The lyrics and cover jacket are all in Portuguese, however the viewer can choose to see the on-screen lyric translations in either English, Spanish, or Portuguese, or without any subtitles. With Djavan's beautiful face, beautiful voice & beautiful language one does not tire of repeated viewings of this seamless session. In contrast there is a DVD available:"Djavan Ao Vivo" in which some of the Rio scenery can be seen, and Djavan sings some songs solo outdoors. Obrigado!
