Solid, simple and well-made.,

I made the mistake of buying a cheaper (but not a whole lot less expensive) target trap for practicing airgun shooting, before I found the Do-All Bullet Box. The Bullet Box is made of heavy steel that isn't fazed by pellets from my 1,000 FPS airgun. I expect the trap to last a long time. It features a simple design, and assembled in just a few minutes, using heavy-duty bolts that came in the box. I'm pleased with my purchase, and the price I paid at Amazon was less than anywhere else I looked.

Do-All 22/17 Bullet Trap Review,
This review is from: Do-All Outdoors .22/.17 Bullet Box (Sports)
Great for 22 S, L, or LRs. The 17 HMRs will eventually punch a hole if shot at close range (in my basement at 20 yds). I have two because the manufacturer sent me one for free after a hole developed and I complained. I welded two 3/8" AR400 steel plates on the inside of the backing and now they can handle most lead pistol bullets. For a 17 HMR the trap must be set to 100 yds where the energy has dropped enough not to damage the trap. The plates I added for $15 each roughly make the traps twice as heavy but they are now more useful.

The only reason I didn't send it back was it is heavy to ship back. The company obviously went to the lowest overseas bidder for construction, and I got what I paid for, a trap that had gaps in the metal due to poor quality workmanship. The pieces did not fit tight at all, I was glad I had a welder to fill in the 1/8 inch gaps in the metal. I repainted it and now sits on my bench were I shoot at it all the time. Wouldn't recommend the purchase to anyone unless they have access to a welder.

I bought this bullet box for my pellet rifle so I can discretely shoot my Walther force 1000 .177 cal pellet rifle indoors. Item arrived in good condition but when I tried to bolt it togather there was about an eigth of an inch gap between the back plate and the side plates. On further examination I noticed the reason.. The clips that are welded to the back plate are welded too close to the edge and they wont let the side plates bolt up tight to the back plate. This is just lack of quality control. What I did was take out my surface grinder and remouved enough metal from the clips and welds so they fit togather tight but this should have been done at the factory. They need to weld those clips a little more away from the edge of the back plate at the assimbly plant so the side plates fit with out a gap. Other than that the bullet box is an excellent bullet trap for rim fire and pellet guns I really like target hanger that comes with it. Item is very sturdy and resonably priced, How ever they need to fix this gap problem.

Stronger than a speeding bullet (pellet),

This shot trap is tough. I haven't used anything more powerful than a .22 air rifle (16gr @ 900fps; 29 ft-lbs?), but I have no doubt that it would stop a .22LR safely --- for a time ...
The problem with lightweight shot traps with no "helical" or curved backstop is this: if you're a good shot, you keep hitting the same part of the backstop --- over and over and over again. After a while, the metal of the backstop gets peened, and eventually weakens. This trap is no lightweight. I use it for zeroing optics on my air guns, and it takes a walloping at 50 feet. (50' is the best I can manage indoors, before final setup outside.) So --- 14 - 16 gr pellets, at about 900 feet per second, generally (when all goes well) hitting the same 3/8" area, if the target is centered. You can feel a slight "push" on the back plate, but that's about all I'd call it. Some paint has flaked at the impact point. Other than that, the box is impervious. One observation that should be addressed: Fine dust can get ejected out the back between the side plates and the back plate, which can mark a surface (e.g., a wall) behind it. Hanging some plastic behind the trap solves it. So would some silicone, if you didn't need to disassemble it. Or --- there could be a thin gasket along that joint. The gasketing would give it an easy 5 Stars.

Strong box but has low quality (weak) target bracket & clip,

Overall, it's a good bullet box that does what it's supposed to do. It can take a bit of patience to get the bolts lined up but can be put together quickly. Unless you use something like Loctite or super glue, you have to regularly tighten all of the bolts. The only real problem is with the bracket and clip that hold your targets. The target bracket is extremely low-grade and was totally destroyed after being hit by six .22 LR shots from ~40 yards. I contacted Do-All Outdoors & they sent me a replacement in a couple of days but that one was destroyed in no time as well. It's easy to set targets without that bracket so that's what I've done since.

Ok, I looked at everything Amazon sells that does this work and choose this bullet trap.
I made a great choice! I am using it with my 1000 foot-per-second, break-barrel air rifle. I don't think I will ever use it with "powered" rounds so it should out-last me and the gun. :) The only recommendation I can make is to have Amazon ship it separate from your other items/orders. The thing is heavy and comes un-assembled (in pieces) and those pieces get lose in the packaging and mess up the other items in the box. Other than that the target is just right for indoor air rifle use. Do not shoot at it with a bb gun, the trap is not "tight" enough to capture the hard ball ammo and it might bounce-back at you. Pellets do just fine with only the smallest of fragments finding their way back out of the trap. You will have to turn-lose your Roomba to clean-up all the tiny fragments after an evening of shooting. :)

This bullet box worked ok I suppose, but not for what I wanted. You have to be a very long distance away for this to be used safely (manufacturer reccomends 100+ yards) so no pistol training here. I did try it at about 10 yards just to see, and after the first shot I was hit in the face with hot lead that came from the box. Upon closer inspection the .22 almost penetrated the steel back of the box. Again, might work well for long distance rifle practice, but don't plan to use a pistol.
