5.0 out of 5 stars Best Trap Thrower Ever!, September 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Do-All Outdoors Professional Clayhawk 3/4 Cock Trap (Sports)
This is a well made unit with heavy gauge materials, easy to assemble, fairly priced, and it performed better than I expected. The 3/4 cocking mechanism is easy to use. No more sore muscles from pulling the swing arm back. It's light enough to move, but heavy enough, with the anchors, to be a stable throwing unit, even in sand. On it's first day, we launched over 800 clays with only 2 breaking up - so you have to wonder if that was the Do-All or the clays. We threw them individually and as doubles all day. The adjustable clip easily slides for changes in speed and direction. The 3 pivot mounts take a little effort to change the angle on plane, but not at all inconvenient. The throwing distance was 70-100 yards as advertised. With the spring disengaged, the swing arm locks in place and the unit packs nicely in the back of my suburban. I hunt mostly upland birds and waterfowl. All in all, this is the best trap throwing unit I've ever had for the type of shooting I do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great thrower for any shooter., September 27, 2010

This is a pretty good thrower...doesn't match those professional throwers but for the price and size, you can't go wrong. I shoot around 10 cases a season with this thrower and it just works. No problems so far. The only addition that would be great is if they sold a kit that can covert it to a foot release so that I can shoot by myself. But this thrower throws far and fast.

A very nicely made thrower that functions well time after time. The tripod stand is functional but on the lightweight side. A remote trigger would be a nice addition as would swivel adjustments that don't require a wrench. Overall a head above most of the competion in its price range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Trap, June 4, 2011

This Trap throws 100 yds as claimed,The only problem I found with this Trap is time involved in changing the angle and altitude .The Pivot points on this Trap have Gear type teeth that require you to loosen the pivot Bolt enough to change tooth positions. I installed nylon thrust washers at the pivot points (enough washers to clear the teeth) and added Nylock nuts. This allows me to adjust the tension at each joint and the trap is now truly able to throw in any direction, This is the best and most versatile Trap that I have ever used.

Assembling the Clayhawk 3/4 Cock Trap takes a few minutes. The instructions are not as clear as they could be. Fortunately, there's not that many parts and it soon becomes obvious. The most annoying part of the assembly is the lack of space in the lower triangle area. It's difficult to fit a wrench over the bolt heads. Skinny jaws on an open ended wrench are required. Once assembled, this trap thrower works quite well. Their website has some nice demonstration videos on all the ways you can use the thrower. Enjoy!

Good quality thrower, durable and well built for the money. Would recommend a wobbler kit for added fun
Few broken clays but this could have been caused by box handling, after all they are clay targets

My husband and i go to an outdoor range a few times a month, sometimes with friends and this Clayhawk has been an awesome investment. Before we used those plastic hand throwers, so we were thrilled to get this one. We have had no issues in its performance. It throws the clay beautifully and consistently perfect. The past few times we've been throwing two clay at a time and it throws them so nicely. We have not tried to throw the full 5 it is capable of, but i do not see why it wouldn't be able to. If you are looking for a great thrower, then look no further. This is what you are looking for, it doesn't get any better.

We've had this almost a year now, and it still works like a champ. We take it with us to the range every time and it works as good as the ones you pay $20-30 for EACH time you go. If you trap shoot often, then this is a great investment. We have thrown 4 clays at once, and it was able to launch them very far with minimal tweaking. We bring tools with us when we go shooting, and you can make all the necessary adjustments to accommodate throwing 4, instead of one within a minute. would buy again, without hesitating.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than walmart, November 28, 2011

Ok first of all I have to say that I felt that reviews were done by companies to try and sell their product, I looked at the reviews and bought this item based on that. Took a chance, here is my story. I am not a hunter, nor a trap shooter. I gave up hunting 23 years ago but I used to hunt and figured it was only fair to give my kids the same chance and fun I had. I have been a state trooper for 24 years and gave up hunting since I became a trooper. I figured it only fair to give my kids the same fun I had when I was kid hunting, so I wanted them to get used to shooting birds on the fly. This is lengthy and I have never written a review on any item. I bought a Wal-Mart skeet shooter for 40 bucks,,,I got what I paid for,,,a piece of crap,,,, I didn't know if the thing was going to fall apart when I sent a skeet or hit me. It was radical. Half the skeet's broke on send off. The thing swung back and forth it was unreal. So I returned it and looked on Amazon. I found this one and thought it was a little expensive. I took my chance.
When I got it in the mail and took it out of the box I thought OH MY GOSH there are so many screws and pieces, I was upset. Then I said what the hay, I will try, then I realized all the small pieces were put together that I thought I got an item that someone returned and they just sent me a returned item that was half put together. If that was the case I was glad. It took me a half hour to put the thing together. Then I sent some targets out.... UNREAL. The thing was awesome. Never broke a box of clay pigeons. I totally recommend this item for the novelist and the pro. AWASOME PRODUCT

This product is awesome at a great price. We have thoroughly enjoyed using it and will continue to do so for years to come. Great for a family as my 11 year old girl is able to operate this thrower. It is quiet and does not distract the shooter. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys trap shooting.
