White Wing Trap Thrower + Wobbler + Remote Control,
By
This review is from: Do-All Outdoors White Wing Automatic Trap (Sports)
This is a great trap. Go ahead and buy it, you won't be sorry. The product works as advertised and is well built. I have had mine about a week and have already used 400 targets. This thing works great and is easy to assemble.
I had a problem on delivery. The main spring on my unit was bent and did not stretch properly to activate the cam. The target would only throw about 40 yards. I called Do All and got the woman that everyone complains about. She was OK with me and had me a new spring delivered in 3 days. The new spring increased my range to 55 yards. I don't understand the others saying they get 80 yards with this machine that's a little extreme. I measured my distance. 55 Yards is really OK because the shotgun target load is really not effective after 30-40 yards anyway. Do all advertises a range of 60-80 yards in one part of their website and 55-65 in another for the White Wing. 55 Yards is realistic and as I mentioned earlier that is plenty of distance. Clay Breakage is minimal at 1 to 2% of targets thrown which is acceptable. One deep cycle marine battery should run this unit all day. I am so pleased with this unit that I have already ordered the Wobbler and the remote control. I'll update this review when I use them a while. Update 8-19-2010 Purchased and installed the Wobbler along with the remote control. Wobbler............I shot 4 boxes of shells with the Wobbler today. What fun. The Wobbler is almost a must have with this unit. No instructions for installation, but you don't need any. Very easy to install, just take the legs off the White Wing and install them on the Wobbler and bolt the Wobbler to the White Wing. Total of 8 bolts. The wobbler adds a decent challenge to the Trap and works great. The only drawback is it adds about 20 lbs to the unit (about 75-80 lbs total). Seriously consider the White Wing if you are going to be moving the unit around as the other Do All units weigh more. I keep mine in the basement and it's OK to pick up and move around but difficult to walk with. I load mine in the back of a pickup with th battery and transport it that way. Save your money you are going to want the wobbler. Out of 100 Shots with the Wobbler operating today I only broke one clay loading, exactly 1%. Remote Control........... I tested it and it worked fine. Works great if you have 2 people one shooting and one working the remote control. I shoot mostly by myself and prefer the foot pedal, but Do All makes a foot pedal for the remote, I'll need to try that later. I am a hard guy to please, but I am totally satisfied with these 3 products. 5 Stars on all of them, and I'm OK with Do All's customer service.

Do-All White Wing, Great buy,
This review is from: Do-All Outdoors White Wing Automatic Trap (Sports)
I purchased the white wing thrower and owned it for about 6 months, and since then have thrown a couple of thousand rounds through it. This thrower is the best thing that I have ever done for my shooting, It throws the clays around 75-85 yards when there isn't a wind, It has rarely broke any birds, which sometimes the clays are cracked already. I also purchased the wireless remote for it, If you really want to practice for those hard shots like most duck hunters do then this is for you I absolutely love it!!!! For the money you can't beat it so don't even try another brand.

I purchased the DO ALL White Wing at Amazon. This automatic thrower is very well made and functioned almost perfectly. Putting it together was a breeze without even looking at the supplied video or the owners manual. Everything comes pretty much factory assembled. You just have to install the feet, target holder and spring to the unit and you are good to go. At first everything went well, but after 10 or so birds all hell broke lose. Every single bird broke. After close examination I found that the spring loaded target brake (the black rubber piece, which hold the rest of the birds in place when one bird falls thru the loading hole) puts a lot of pressure against the birds and breaks them. Simple solution for that is: take some cutoff pliers and shorten the spring. I cut about 2-3 windings off and have had no more problems. I can only recommend this product because of its heavy duty built and really low price. My son and I are having a blast with this bird thrower.

Wow....what a disappointment with the product. Not with Amazon, though. Amazon has turned a horrible purchase into a break even deal, rather than an almost complete loss. Plain and simple, this product is the result of China workmanship, shipping from across the world and products that sit in freight containers. Not one, but two of these were delivered to me. Amazon immediately replaced the first one, which threw about 6 clays before it went completely out of alignment and broke every one after that. Since it was to be a surprise for a birthday, Amazon sent me out another. The second arrived two days later, THANK YOU Amazon, only it was a rust bucket. I had to wipe off the entire product with CLR rust remover, then noticed that critical components had rusted through. Could not use it either. Took out the wrenches and spent nearly 6 hrs building a working unit from the two POS units I received. The surprise party just 12 hrs away, gave the remanufactured unit a touch-up paint job and, YES, it worked just fine for the party. Amazon only charged me for one of these, but if I could, I would take the manufacturer to court and get reimbursed for all the time and expenses. Oh ya..I did call the D0-All folks, only answering machines, no response. You better order two or more, if you really need a working unit!!!! Hey, if you are a DO-All company person reading this, how about getting me back my money?

I saw the White Wing Trap thrower at Bass Pro Shop and thought it would be neat to have. Their price was pretty high, so I looked on-line. Found it on amazon for $50.00 cheaper than Bass Pro. I ordered it and when it came in, I was very pleased. I called the Do-All company for a few quick installing questions and the lady that answers the phone was bordering on hateful. She didnt want to help at all. After I had the trap thrower for a week, I decided that I wanted the Wobbler kit, that is an optional item to go with it. Again, I called the Do-All company and got the same woman, I asked her if the Wobbler kit would fit the White Wing, which none of their sales inforamation says it will, and the lady again was not helpful at all. I asked her to talk to a Tech rep, and she said she was it and I couldnt go any higher to ask questions. She had no idea how to mount the Wobbler, nor could she find anyone to help, All she could say that it fits my unit and I could figuere it out when I got it. The Wobbler unit came in, and was not too hard to install. The product they sell is great, but the Tech support stinks. I hope I never have a problem with it down the road, I will probably never get it fixed.

Unit works as advertised; does all that it was advertised to do; easy to set up. For the price, it beats the old manual throwers hands down. Only small problem was a bent bolt and bad battery clip but that was a shipping problem, not a machine problem.

I've been wanting an electric trap for some time, and after seeing one at my local big-box sporting goods store, I opted to do my research to see what was available. The White Wing always came up as the lowest priced; and considering I just wanted something to automagically fling a circular piece of clay for me to shoot, I didn't want to pay a fortune for one. I had read a few reviews that were less than stellar but most were very positive. My wife asked me shortly thereafter what I wanted for my birthday; SCORE!
The box arrived and it was surprisingly smaller than I had expected. I opened it to find the legs, the target holder posts, the safety ring (a piece of neon orange poly tubing,) the spring, a few other parts and the thrower itself with pretty much everything already put together. The instructions were very simple on how to attach the spring and assemble everything and I had it up and running within 20 minutes. It even came with some cheap stamped-steel wrenches if you don't have your own (or are in the middle of a field without tools!) Out of the box, mine broke a clay here or there but for the most part I was getting probably a 90% good throw rate. I wasn't overly pleased but the fact that it was working that quick right out of the box was thrilling enough. I put it away until one afternoon when a co-worker came over; I had put the safety pin in as per the instructions when I stored it, but when I set it up to demonstrate to my co-worker, I forgot to take the safety pin out. Big mistake! The pin prevents the throwing arm from moving forward (and whipping around in a violent fashion to throw your target, a bad thing if you're in the way.) However, the electric motor doesn't know that and just keeps whirring away, trying to turn the arm. The motor is pretty high torque (if you look carefully, it's actually the same basic type of motor that they use to roll up/down car door windows) and by the time I had figured out my mistake - it was too late. The arm was out of adjustment and every single bird it threw, it BROKE. 100% failure rate. (Mind you, this was my mistake in not taking the pin out, but I think it's also a design flaw as a safety device shouldn't render a product useless if you forget to disable it.) Now, that's the bad news and why I only gave it 4 stars as opposed to 5; if there was a better safety mechanism (maybe a simpler spring disconnect, or a pin that held the spring in place that didn't throw the arm out of adjustment) I'd have given it 5 stars. All that being said, I'm a pretty handy person so I opted to see if I could fix it first. I looked online at the various FAQ's and videos the comopany offered up, but none really offered any advice if your thrower broke EVERY clay. You can adjust the micro-switch in the front a little, and that's really all they have in the way of recommendations. After reading some of the reviews here, I noticed where tech support was less than techy, and opted to fix it myself. Thankfully, it's not as bad as you'd think. There are two bolts that hold the throwing arm in position with the spring mechanism below; loosening them allows you to "clock" the arm to it. There's another bolt that holds the cam in place (in relation to the arm) for the target dispenser; this too has an adjustment range as well. I removed the spring and observed the relation of everything and ran it through with the motor running. It took me a few tries but I eventually got it to where it doesn't break ANY targets! Once I got it fixed, I offered my wife a lawn chair and ran my 100' extension cord out the garage to where she could tap the pedal and I could have it throw targets across (rather than in front of) me. Much to my delight, my wife even hopped up and took some shots after she saw how much fun I was having! All-in-all I'd say this is one heck of a hidden bargain. I plan on getting the 40-target extension poles so I don't have to reload the thrower quite so often (it comes with a 25-target holder, which is the lowest capacity of all the throwers, most come with a 50-target holder.) However I will caution against using the safety pin. If you do forget and it throws itself out of alignment, it IS fixable at home. I think next birthday I'm going to ask for the wobbler attachment!

The Do-All Outdoors White Wing is Fantastic,

I did not want to spend the Big-Bucks on a automatic clay target trap thrower. When I found this one on Amazon I was afraid to buy because it was so cheap. I thought that maybe it was a rip-off at that price. I set out to ask the experts and I went to the Usery Mountain trap shooting range in Mesa Az. and ask the head guy what he thought of this trap thrower. He had never heard of the White Wing model but went on to say that Do-All was a respected Company. I bought it. Assemply was easy using the supplied video. There is a micro-switch that controls the throwing arm and you are going to have to fool with that adjustment until you quit breaking targets but that is it. This thrower throws hard and fast. I shoot 3 days a week with a friend and I could not be happier with this purchase. I haven't bought any of the accessories as I am a novice shooter.

I'm going with five stars for the White Wing. It was easy to assemble. The instructions were ok, but I really did not need them. I did have one issue with the Wobbler kit. The instructions for installing the tension spring on the Wobbler were omitted. I called the customer support number and Sabrina was very helpful and friendly. She e-mailed the spring installation instructions to me within a few minutes of our conversation.
I had some friends over the first time I used the WW for a Skeet and Eat. Everybody enjoyed the machine. We did have a few clays come out broken, but I cannot blame the WW for this. I believe some of them were damaged prior to loading. We noticed a few more rejects over the hand thrower. I believe this is from a damaged clay causing damage to other clays as it either miss loads or shatters. We did not use the Wobbler yet, but we will this weekend. We also tried a few different brands of clay pigeons. We only had issues with one brand, and I will call no names because it was an old box. The AA Flayers worked great. This is a great value through Amazon. I would recommend this machine. Also to the person looking for clay pigeons (you call them targets). I have been getting them at Wal-Mart and The Sports Authority.

I received my Auto Trap on time, and it was easy to set up, especially with the included video. I'm new to skeet shooting, and lover the reliability of this piece. I had a Pig Roast/Skeet Shoot this last weekend, we launched right at 500 clays!! With only a couple of misfires, the launcher was a hit with everyone there.
