5.0 out of 5 stars From the author of "Do It Anyway", October 27, 2003
By
Kent M. Keith (Indianapolis, Indiana) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World (Hardcover)
As I have traveled and talked with people about the Paradoxical Commandments, I have been struck by the fact that almost everyone agrees that they should live "the paradoxical life." The question is: How do you do it?

This book is my answer. I wrote it to give people the examples, the tools, and the encouragement to live the paradoxical life and find personal meaning and deep happiness, no matter who they are, and no matter what their past or present conditions may be.

The book includes 40 stories from people I know personally who live the Paradoxical Commandments each day. They include a school teacher, a housing developer, a retired Navy captain, a college president, a YMCA leader, a jeweler, an occupational therapist, the CEO of a non-profit organization, a businessman, a college professor, a pineapple plantation worker, an Army sergeant, a pastor, a nurse, and a financial adviser. By quietly living the Paradoxical Commandments, they find personal meaning and deep happiness, even when times are tough. I hope that after reading their stories, you will decide that you, too, can DO IT ANYWAY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't stop doing the right thing!, November 7, 2003
By
This review is from: Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World (Hardcover)
Feeling frustrated or beat up doesn't mean you should stop doing the right thing. "The Paradoxical Commandments" brought my frustration into words, and let me know I was not alone. "Do It Anyway" gives real examples of what others have experienced and how they came through. It challenged by life, and helped put me in a much stronger place. You can make a difference doing the right thing. Even when no one is looking, Do It Anyway!

This review is from: Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World (Hardcover)
Do It Anyway is an easy book to read. Living its tenets is more difficult. By use of thoughtful questions along with stories from real people, the author suggests ways we can incorporate the Paradoxical Commandments into our lives. By the time you've finished reading, you realize not only your ability to do good, but the strengthened desire to get out there and do it! This book is a quick read that packs a gentle wallop. Read it anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars let's all do the right thing anyway, October 28, 2003
By
This review is from: Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World (Hardcover)
our crazy world needs more books like this. to read about these people from every walk of life and how they manage to "do it anyway" gives hope. if every reader is encouraged to only one act of "paradoxical" behaviour,to do good anyway,to love anyway,we would have a saner world. kent keith writes in a heartfelt,no-nonsense way which should appeal to a wide range of readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Take the ANYWAY CHALLENGE, October 28, 2003
By

This review is from: Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World (Hardcover)
Mother Teresa hung the author's "Paradoxical Commandments" in her orphanage in Calcutta, India to inspire and challenge those who read them to live a life of service. These are universal truths that apply to every aspect of life, including work and home. If we all chose to live life "ANYWAY" we could change the world!

5.0 out of 5 stars this book is an act of kindness!, October 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World (Hardcover)
During these trying times of great distrust and violence against our fellow man, comes Kent Keith's book. In describing why he writes, he states, "I wanted to help people get past their excuses, their difficult past, their difficult present, so they could find personal meaning and make a difference anyway". He focuses on simple things and poses questions that everyone should be asking themselves like, "What problems trouble me or excite me most? Have I studied the problems or issues? How can I learn more?" This great handbook reminds you to take that extra step, to dig deeper and act on your thoughts. "What we need is each other", and he's right. What a lovely man Kent Keith must be. A thoughtful gift to family, friends, or a stranger!

5.0 out of 5 stars You can "Do It Anyway"!, October 24, 2003
By
This review is from: Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World (Hardcover)
Kent Keith's new book is powerful in its simplicity, and universal in its message.
'Do It Anyway' is both the book's theme and it's call to action. Using his 10 Paradoxical Commandments, the author shows how we really can make a difference in this crazy world that we all share. In spite of everything, we should (indeed, we must) do the right thing - Anyway.
If we all could just live by these wise principles, the world really would be a better place.
The book is full of wisdom and insight. I learnt a great deal, and I know that you will too. (I think that it would make a great Thanksgiving gift.)
Many books claim to "change your life" - this one undoubtedly will. With this book, Kent gives us the inspiration, and the tools, to make a real difference. The rest is up to us.

This well written book deserves five stars. The author shares a series of interesting life stories that are really enjoyable to read. The positive stories provided me with a new perspective about how we relate to each other, and what's really important in life. It's an uplifting book that would make a wonderful present too!

5.0 out of 5 stars No wonder Mother Teresa hung Kent's words in her orphanage, October 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Do It Anyway: The Handbook for Finding Personal Meaning and Deep Happiness in a Crazy World (Hardcover)
Do It Anyway is the kind of book you want to pass on to everyone you know. The Paradoxical Commandments are simple and universal yet extraordinaily profound. I belive they are indeed the key to finding "personal meaning and deep happiness." Even Mother Teresa hung the commandments on the wall of her orphanage in Calcutta. Do It Anyway is not only a great introduction to the Paradoxical Commandments it also is a guide on how to put them into practice. With stories of how others have put them into practice it is sure to leave you inspired.
