Do A Dot Art: 5-pack Shimmer Markers

I have been using these shimmer markers at home for when I babysit my nieces.. they go wild for these markers! The colors are beautiful, the markers are durable, and they are easy to use. I have never had an issue with washability, it's always an easy clean-up for us! I eventually bought all the different Do-A-Dot colors because they were such a big hit!

Do not buy. This paint is like a dye that stains skin and tables, floor, anything. It is not WASHABLE (read the fine print.) Don't make the same mistake I made by using this product. NOT FOR KIDS. Wil even drip off a dry paper and stain a large area.

My kids have been using the do a dot shimmer markers in pre-school for years. I have been looking for these at every office supply, craft and retail store (i.e. Target) and no one has them. I love the shimmer paint and they aren't as messy as using paint and a paint brush. The metallic shimmer looks cool and is something different for the kids.

I was very disappointed in the product as I do like the dot painters. There is really very little shimmer. The silver is just grey and the gold is just yellow.

I am not sure what all the hubbub is on here about Do-A-Dot markers being super-staining. While we have not actually dumped the ink out of these things to ensure they won't stain my carpet, my daughter is definitely not "careful" with them and we've never had a problem. They certainly come off a kitchen counter, a wood floor, an IKEA desk, windowsills, and a coffee table. They also come off her skin just fine. And so far I have not encountered stains on her clothing which tells me laundry detergent is at least getting it off her sleeves/cuffs.

Not that I would recommend doing these on carpet, or giving them to a hyperactive child, but they are SO much fun, it's hard to not recommend them. My four year old, six year old, and even my seven year old enjoy them. They are very different from regular markers or paints--a great experience of their own. And I give this set in particular five stars because the regular Rainbow set is missing pink and purple, which most little girls really want. I'm not sure they "shimmer" in any true sense--they don't have glitter or sparkles in them--but the silver and yellow-gold colors are nice to have.

Just FYI, the purple, yellow, and blue are NOT repeats from the Rainbow pack. They are different shades, so I appreciated that.

These are great. We have three sets (all but the fluorescent ones) and use them often, they always work and aren't showing any signs of running out soon. We usually use them on newsprint with a second sheet below, and that's sufficient that they don't bleed through to the table. The ink dries in minutes, even if an area is saturated. We've left them open for ~30 min, they're still fine. Some of the other reviews mentioned staining, but I've had no trouble - ink may leave a little colored residue on the skin after gentle washing, but just for a day and it's no worse than any other marker or paint that we've used.

They really are glittery, too. The ink goes down without much shimmer, but the glitter is more evident as it dries. You can layer different colors while the page is till wet, they don't get muddy. Good toys.

Update a year later - they're still going strong! We love 'em.

My 2 year old loves these! They are easy to use and not messy at all- and very full of sparkle!

I bought these for my 2 year old daughter and she loves them.
they are her favorite coloring tool.
