4.0 out of 5 stars A hilarious story of four great friends
This is the story of Eddie, Salem, Sunny, and Pickles, four totally different kids lumped together in the same school, and forming an unexpected friendship. There's the grumpy Sunny, who's personality is the absolute opposite of her name. Dispite this, the wimpy Eddie is in love with her. Pickles, who's nickname has a long story behind it. 3.0 out of 5 stars Funkie Read Funkie Pickle!
The book I am reviewing is Do the Funky Pickle by Jerry Spinelli. In the book Eddie tries to be cool by making up a dance to attract a girl he likes. The problem is that Eddie attracts the wrong girl. Her boyfriend says he will beat him up on Friday. This is a great book. I give it three out of five stars. I would recommend this book to everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book! Excellent Series!, April 8, 2008
My daughter and I read this book (and the whole series) together, and we both laughed our way all the way through. The friendship formed among 4 new middle-schoolers is a treasure. You'll find their humor, hopes, fears, "schemes", and loyalty to each other keeping you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend this book for any pre-teen. If you have a child who doesn't enjoy reading, this might be the book(s) to peak his or her interest.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Funky Pickle is Funky!, March 21, 2007
A Kid's Review
"Do The Funky Pickle" by Jerry Spinelli is a very good book. It is about a group of four friends that are totally different. Theres Sunny, whose name does not match her personality at all. Eddie, who is kind of a whimp, but totally in love with Sunny. Pickles, the funny friend whose always willing to help you. Last but not least, Salem, the "author on the rise", who is also determined to get Sunny and Eddie together. After rejection of asking Sunny to the dance, Eddie and Pickles have to come up with some new moves, and fast. Pickles and Eddie make up a dance called "The funky pickle", hence the title. But, there dance doesn't quite make the right girl fall for Eddie, it's Angelpuss, not Sunny. Angelpuss is the girlfriend of the meanest toughest 8th grader. Can Eddie get out of this mess alive? Read "Do The Funky Pickle" to find out!

This review is from: Do the Funky Pickle (Paperback)
Have you ever been to a school dance? After you read Do The Funky Pickle you will never want to go to one again. One day at Plumpstead Middle School an announcement was made that there was going to be a school dance. In hearing this Eddy immediatly got the idea of asking Sunny Wyler to it. On his first attemped he got the answer NO! He now thought he had to impress her by akting tough. So he went to Salam for advice. He didn't like her advice so he went to Pickles for a second opinion. They made a plan that backfired because instead of attracting Sunny he atracted an ugly orange spiked haired, purple lipsicked, Knukle head named Anglepuss. This realy upset her boy friend and he forces Eddy to fight. This scarred Eddy so he writs his will and tries to forget about it but can't. So on the weekend he walks to his old elm. and stares in daze. In this period of time all of the happy memories come flooding back to him. It was like going back in time and watching. Then he walked in the halways and was hypnotized by happy memories. Even when he closed his eyes they were still there. Yet the feeling of the fight hung low in his stomach. He dreaded the day he would have to fight Weasle Munshak. He had no choice it was a closed case. He wishs he had never been born or just stayed in pre-K. This was the worst problem he ever had been in. Little did he know that his friends had a plan. The question is will it benefit either of them?
