Book Description

Little Bear lives with his family in the Great Green Wood. When something bad happens to Little Bear’s friend, Susie Bird, he is sad and confused. Little Bear does not understand why something bad has happened to a nice and lovely bird.

Mother Bear helps Little Bear realize that even though bad things sometimes happen, there will always be more good things than bad things. Little Bear is happy because he is able to help Susie Bird by doing a little good. And by doing a little good, Little Bear is able to help make the Great Green Wood a better place after all.

This book is dedicated in loving memory of the 20 beautiful little bears we lost, the seven who showed the world how to do a little good, and the countless others whose love and kindness has made our world a better place.

All proceeds from this book will be donated directly to the “Newton Youth and Family Services” and the “Sandy Hook School Support Fund” in order to provide assistance and support to the victims, families, and local community in Newtown, CT.

5.0 out of 5 stars A sweet, simple book written for the right reasons January 3, 2013
By PTG
Format:Kindle Edition
I'll admit from the start, I'm biased; a friend of mine wrote this, and my mom illustrated. Had this not been the case, I may have missed out on a wonderful thing. Laura, like many, was moved deeply in the wake of the events at Sandy Hook. She wanted to find a way to support those directly impacted, to give of herself. A writer, she chose to use her gifts.

This story is a very sweet, simple one that communicates to children the importance and value of community in the midst of the bad in the world. Laura has done an incredible job taking such a powerful idea and crafting it into something kids can not only understand, but can act upon in their own lives. They will see how easy it is to be there for others, to give of what they have (such as Laura with her gift of writing), and to do so for no other reason than to help the other.

The illustrations are beautiful. My mom has a gift for creating engaging images without going overboard. The simplicity does not detract from the story, but adds to it quietly and softly.

Since all proceeds will be donated directly to the "Newton Youth and Family Services" and the "Sandy Hook School Support Fund", this is a great opportunity if you have been meaning to show your support.

This is a cute, fun story with an important yet easily understood message for all the Little Bears of the world. That the proceeds are donated to charity makes this an even more worthy book to buy. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, simple story January 7, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Laura has simplified a complex subject matter into a sweet story that is quite easy for young readers (and hearers) to understand. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who would like to "do a little good" for others while being blessed in the process. It's a win-win, folks.
