5.0 out of 5 stars Our Language Is Not Dead, Thanks to Downset, March 31, 2000

Wow! Thats all I could say when I first bought this. And I'm still saying it now. Their upfront lyrical rapping style and metallic guitars make them a force to reckon with. All of the songs are great, except for Ashes In Hand. My personal favorites are Eyes Shut Tight, Keep on Breathing, and Sickness. Downset do not compare at all to the sold-out likes of Korn, Rage Against the Machine, or Limp Bizkit. They're more like a laid-back rapping Machine Head. If you like this, try One Minute Silence, (hed) p.e., Snot (RIP Lynn and Dobbs), like I said before Machine Head, and Dial 7.

5.0 out of 5 stars downset comes from the heart!, August 26, 1999
This review is from: Do We Speak a Dead Language (Audio CD)
The emotion of this band easily transcends any possible petty critisisms, about how they may sound like so-and-so, or whatever else. The biggist differance between this album and the first one is that "Do we speak...?" is definetly more tight as a whole album. Song for song, though, its just as good as thier debut. If Rage against the machine(another great band)is a politicaly conscience band, then the best way to describe downset is as a socialy conscience one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good, March 23, 2000

This is one good CD. I like it. Most of my collection is different than this, meaning I've been listening to it a lot. A few things are kinda dumb, such as screaming "posiive" in Empower...but most of the CD is amazing. I don't see a point in having a reprise of Sickness, and I dont agree with the anti-sex views in Ashes in Hand but oh well...i love everything else, expecially Touch.

Downset rocks. Get this CD.
