Book Description

January 1, 2008
Mike Staver, CEO of The Staver Group and a professional speaker and coach to thousands of people each year, has been called a Rebel with a Cause. A resistor of conventional wisdom, canned solutions, and tired clichés, he will push you to radically look at your life and your organization in revolutionary ways.

This book is like Mike himself: edgy, opinionated, sometimes controversial, and always truthful. So, be prepared you may not hear what you want to hear. In fact, you can count on that. But if you re at a point in your life where you re ready to be pushed to grow, pushed to embrace counterintuitive thinking, pushed to get comfortable with discomfort, and pushed to achieve maximum results, read on.

Herein lie hard truths, common sense, and more than a few metaphorical kicks in the butt. You ll thank Mike for them later.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great guide, February 6, 2008

This review is from: Do You Know How to Shut Up? (Paperback)
What I love about this book is every chapter targets a specific behavior -about you or someone you deal with. Pick any chapter and get a two page summary of common sense practices that are easy to apply in every day life. You don't wind up thinking "that's a great idea, but what do I do to get there?" Mike tells you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book to keep on the bedside table, May 26, 2008

This book is like a "Coles Notes" for the teachings of Stephen Covey. It is well written, clear and concise (which, as the author points out, are not the same thing.) I recommend this book as a great airplane read, or a book to keep on the bedside table for dipping into when things feel a little fuzzy in your life. On the other hand, it is no substitute for the great textbooks on personal development and goal setting.

This book is full of often profound nuggets you can use to get more out of life. Its short chapters can be worked into any busy schedule and provide great suggestions to make your own life happier and more meaningful and to share when coaching others...co-workers or even your children.
