Amazing...but totally underrated.,
By Rich (Philadelphia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Do You Know (Audio CD)
Michelle is definitely the underrated member of Destinys Child. She doesnt get as much time on the albums as Beyonce or Kelly. Usually shes just back up, or gets a short solo part, which I think its extremely unfair. Michelle has been my favourite, I dont know but something about her just stands out. I didnt get her 1st solo album, I never even heard of it. But then I saw her perform "Do You Know" on The Soul Train Awards, I believe it was, & I was just BLOWN away! I dont even like Gospel music but I love her album a lot. I think she should get more recognition in Destinys Child or stay solo. Shes an amazing perfomer and deserves more praise. Everyone song is great on this album, but the strongest track is "15 Minutes" hands down. Her vocals are amazing, lyrics are amazing, just an all around amazing track. She's really outdone herself, cant wait for her next project.

Her sophomore effort better than her first!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Do You Know (Audio CD)
I must say that I was a little surprised to hear that Michelle was recording a second cd. Sure, her first album was a critical and commercial success. But, from a musical standpoint, it was kinda weak . . . what with the overabundance of guest artists and the strong emphasis on production, the underlying message (that I got at least) was that Michelle was not vocally capable of holding down a cd on her own. But, as I said of her first effort, she has a soft, sweet voice that works in this format. So, "Heart to Yours" was a nice listen. Well, the success of that first album must have really boosted Michelle's confidence because this second album is superior to the first, which is a rarity for many artists! Only one track features a guest artist (well, two if you count the number performed by Destiny's Child) and Michelle's voice sounds stronger and more confident! Like the first cd, the instrumentation and production is tight. And, of course, the message of these songs is encouraging and uplifting! Overall, I think this is a great cd and I highly recommend it! Bravo Michelle!

AMAZING! FANTASTIC! But SO UNDERATED!,
By James Houston "James" (ENGLAND) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Do You Know (Audio CD)
Michelle Williams, in my opinion, is THE most underated artists in music. From fans, to even so called 'professional' critics constantly saying Beyonce and Kelly had huge solo success, and 'the other one' was no where, people need to open their eyes (and ears!) This album is fantastic- and its beyond me how people say she cant sing! This album has fantastic lyrics (which after listening to for over a year, i think i have discovered some hidden meanings). Michelle's voice is spine-tingling, and so much more easy-going than Beyonce's, and more exciting than Kelly's.
Purpose In Your Storm- 10/10. Traditional gospel, mixed with funky rnb beats, and inspiring lyrics. Never Be The Same- 9/10. SO Catchy! Talking about her fame, and i think she's saying that when DC fans and critics 'forget' to mention her, she doesnt care-she's had an amazin experience. so gracious. Love Thing- 9/10. Perfect rnb. soulful, catchy, brilliant production Do You Know- 8/10. This girls voice is amazing! The Incident- 8/10. Like an autobiography of her life. Ups the rnb vibe of the album. My Only Love Is You- 6/10. This is definately listenable, but its sort of just 'there'. 15 Minutes- 10/10. The BEST song here! Her voice is beyond perfect. the lyrics are so powerful. AMAZING! The first 7 songs are unbelieveable! Tracks 8 and 9 are good. Rescue Me- 8/10. THE most relazing song EVER! Such a 'nice' song. Didnt Know- 6/10. Poppy song- 'happy'. The Movement- 8/10. An ANTHEM! Please, all pop, rnb, soul and gospel fans- BUY THIS!

Michelle is Amazing!!!!!!!,
By Rah "Rah" (Philly) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Do You Know (Audio CD)
Let me start off my saying Michelle is really a gift from God I mean her voice and talent is beyond amazing. It's crazy how she is so underrated and how people say she can't sing. But trust me if the listen to this album it will change their mind.
I'm listening to the cd as I type matter a fact. I listen to this cd everyday. It brings your spirit up and it's just amazing and makes you feel good. Alot to relate too also. Ok next..... I never was a gospel fan at all, I liked michelle from DC the most but I never paid attention to her solo wise until I saw and heard "Heard A Word" on tv. I was amazed and loved that song then I heard "Heart to Your's" and loved that also. I never brought the cd though I just liked those 2 songs. So I don't know alot about her first cd just those 2 songs off of it. But you can tell how much her voice has grown and it's so different than when she sings with destiny child. You really can tell her heart is in gospel because when she sings gospel her voice is so amazing and improved. But then I started to check up on her site and like her more. I heard the clips of "Do You Know" cd and I was amazed so I went and brought the album ASAP. I love every song on the album from beggining to end ITS AMAZING. And know that I never listen to gospel but michelle cd is the best. I'm telling this story so people can understand how this album and michelle can make you love her even though you don't always listen to that type of music. I usually listen to only rap and R&B. My favorite artists are ludacris and Lil Kim so you can see how much of a change this gospel album is for me. The album is amazing, her voice, looks, and positive tunes is wonderful. I love her for staying true to God and not having to make nasty music to sell records but I still understand the people who do(I love you Lil kim lol--my wife). Trust me this is a must have album you won't be dissapoited every song is wonderful and this cd need to be noticed more. She has turned me into her #1 fan and this album is beyond amazing. 5 stars to michelle and keep doing great albums!!!!!!

I love this CD.. I also have the first one.. they both are excellent and I am extremely proud of her... I agree with most of the reviewers in that she did not get hardly enough shine when she was with DC.. now that she has branched off and started doin her own thing it is my personal belief that she will eventually out shine the other 2/3 of DC.. Im looking forward to upcoming projects from Michelle.. she is definitely the truth

You Go Girl,

First off I must confess I didn't buy this CD, but downloaded it before it came out. Sorry Michelle but I'm broke and times are hard. If can make it up by helping someone realize that they should buy your cd than I shall. I shall start off by saying there are two changes on this cd from the first(if you have the first you know what I'm saying) 1)Her delivery is way more simplistic(which makes it better). I'm tired of hearing all these people doing riffs and curly q's because they are drones(trying to stay with the in crowd) and no artist creativity. Secondly her music is more laid back and/or joyful.I as a singer like to hear different singers voices and the way they use it. I hate to hear most imitaters( Ginuwine, smokey Norful, Tonex etc..) and though Michelle's voice reminds me of brandy's voice sometime it is still original and beautiful. When you buy this album listen to how her vocals play with and compliment the music. Love Thing was produced by D & D. It is not all that like people are say music wise but it is the vocals that she and the Dawkins brothers bring that make it the bomb. Its a good example of her playing with the music and simplistic delivery. My Favorite songs are: " Didn't Know " it's like she read my life. It talks about having freedom and victory in Jesus, in spite of those around you that are hurting you(physically, emotionally etc...) Good vocal play " Have You Ever " She is gone on this song! She is blowing and so is the background. Its a pretty acoustic song. " The Way Of Love " PaJam produced. She blowes it up at the end. " Rescue My Heart " Incredible beautiful background arrangements. I think Angie Winans is singing it. " Do You Know" The Whole Cd is worth buying it. It is my Opinion that she should leave destiny's child and fulfill God's Plan for her to sing for Him. You can tell her heart is with God. Why else would she make Two Gospel albums?? She is the the vocal equal of beyonce. She could have made it. I think DC 3 is holding her back from her destiny. Leave them Michelle! Anywaaay! Buy the Cd it's worth it. Oh Yeah go buy Free by Virtue

This is my favourite album. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!,
By KENT REVIEWER (South-East UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Do You Know (Audio CD)
This is truly one of the best CDs i have in my collection that exceeds 200. I LOVE this so much, and listen to it most days.
Michelle has grown so much since her debut Heart To Yours in 2002. I LOVE nearly every song on this album. there is NOT one bad song here. Listen to this to make u feel happy, to cheer u up, and to sing and dance and reflect on God. 1. Purpose In Your Storm- Brilliant way to open the album! This is fun, happy, beaty, catchy, and makes u smile everytime! U can tell by the title wot the song is bout. Love This! 9/10 2. Never Be The Same- I think i may have found a hidden meaning to this tune. She is obviuosly talking about God, but i think u can also relate this to her time with Destiny's Child. When fans and critics refer to her as 'the other one' etc, she is sayin she dont care, she has had a brilliant time, and is servin God. Very catchy and very happy! 9/10 3. Love Thang- Beautiful. I call this perfect RnB. Produced by Dawkins and Dawkins. Her vocals are amazin, and the message is beautiful and makes u think. A nice slow jam. 8/10 4. Do You Know- wasnt a fan at first, but love this after seein her perform it live! She sounds absoloutely amazin, rivalling Yolonda Adams. The longest note in history! takes a while to get into, but she kills this at the end! AMAZING! (produced by her brother, Erron) 8/10 5. The Incident- LOVE THIS! It's perfect pop/rnb. It's fun, and funky! Basically sorta a little autobiography. 9/10 6. My Only Love- this is ok. its nice, and she performs it well. contains James Brown samples! 7/10 7. 15 Minutes- THE BEST on here! This is beautiful! She sounds amazin, the lyrics alone make me go cold! Really makes u reflect on ur life and how lucky u r. AMAZIN! 10/10 Tracks 8 and 9 are good, but do not stand out at all. I would give them 6/10. Definitely listenable tho! they dont spoil a thing on this album. 10. Rescue My Heart- So smooth and relaxin! the most relaxin song EVER! I love this so much! 7/10 11. Didn't Know- did not rate this at first, but LOVE it now! the happiest song on here. i love this! she wrote this after a boat trip with Matt and Tina Knowles. 8/10 12. The Movement- Powerful! makes u wanna stomp ur feet and clap ur hands! Produced by Solange Knowles. YEAH! 7/10 13. Have You Ever- again, a beautiful piece. relaxin and sweet. a beautiful spoken intro. lovely way to end her album. 7/10 even tho track 14 is good, it is not needed for Destiny's Child to feature a song on this album! it is I Know- a song on The Fighting Temptations soundtrack. Lovely meaning, and they ALL have lead, and ALL sound amazin! 8/10 this is a fantastic album by a fantastic yet underatted artist! Michelle has a raspy and distinctive voice, which is so meaningful and beautiful! OVERALL- 9.5/10

Michelle FANtastic,
This review is from: Do You Know (Audio CD)
From the moment she joined the group, I was mostly drawn to her, so I bought her first record, a good one. Then this came out and I was ecstatic. The first time I listened to the CD, I liked it but was mostly drawn to "Love Thang". The second time, I fell in love with it. It is absolutely phenomenal! Every track is great. This CD really shows that Michelle is just as good as Beyonce and Kelly and deserves just as much recognition. I have so much of a hard time naming my favorite track because every time I listen to a song I get wrapped up in it and love it more. The best ones, for me, "Love Thang" for her vocal talents, "Do You Know" for the message and melody, "15 Minutes" for everything, and "The Way of Love" for everything as well. She really shines on this CD. This is a great inspirational album and deserves a lot more critical acclaim, which I haven't heard it receive. What I'm saying is...this is a great CD and deserves more recognition and exposure, for its message and for Michelle's talent.

Did you know that michelle is back?? ......Get it!!!!!,
By I.B. (Westampton, NJ) - See all my reviews

For the second time around michelle comes back with another Lp of inspirational praise to set thigns off right. A lot of people thought beyonce would be the first to drop a second Lp but she made the first step. This time around she sounds stronger and the lyrics are stronger too with a good message. The first time around looked liek everyone was giving her a hand and this time around she has no guests except for her group meembers which was a song already featured on a soundtrack. Now unto the songs......whats good?:*Purpose in your storm Overall michelle came out more on this cd where it was more michelle and less of everyone else...which is a good thing. Anyone who dosent know about this should check this out. If you like good comtemporary/inpirational music get htis! Her voice isnt the strongest but different which makes different from the rest. Get it!
