Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Revelation: 51

Welcome to the debut full length from this New York outfit. It features members from Shelter, Resurrection, 108, Fountainhead and Copper. This is the follow up album from their S/T 7" which peaked in the top 20 in CMJ. The title is inspired from the last words John Lennon ever heard......"Do You Know Who You Are?" "It made no sense for us to be on any other label but Revelation. We want to be a part of history" says guitarist, Norm Arenas. Norm is joined by Garrett Klahn, Scott Winegard and Chris Daly. This release brings diversity from a hardcore backround. There are 9 tracks of energetic flavor produced by Jawboxs' J. Robbins. This is a the defining record from a groundbreaking band. Don't be left behind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something to write home about, January 21, 2000
By David A. Beck (Philadelphia, PA) - See all my reviews
Great album. Well engineered. Drum work is excellent. This one, sadly now that they are broken up, was really a testament to how well Texas is the Reason meshed together to produce a continuous expression through sound. If you enjoy this, I highly recommend Jawbreaker (Blake S.) and Jets To Brazil (Blake S. from Jawbreaker, the drummer from Texas is the Reason, and others). Also: Get Up Kids, Jimmy Eat World, Sunny Day Real Estate, and of course, South Jersey Sucession Movement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great indie, April 9, 2002
If you like indie rock, then you should definatly have this in your collection. It's up there with Lp2 by Sunny Day Real Estate in tearms of quality, rockability, and sheer emotional power. Each song has as great feeling to it. Not really something I can explain, just a great, strong feeling. You need to listen to the whole song to understand what I'm talking about. The samples courtesy of amazon.com don't do the songs justice. Actually, you should probably buy this without listening to any songs from it , like I did. That way, you can let Texas is the Reason surprise you with their great songwriting skills.

Bands former members joined: Jets to Brazil, New End Original. Both are worth checking out as well, especially New End Original.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, June 20, 2004
This is perhaps one of the first emo bands that really started making an impact on the world (the first of course, nearly undoubtedly being, Sunny Day Real Estate). They have a very unique sound that has never been matched since they broke up. It is perhaps a good thing that they broke up, before they got extremely mainstream. Then they probably would've went downhill.
Their drummer has become a member of Jets to Brazil, one of the most praised bands in the music world, by not only emo fans but various others. Texas is the Reason is a very good, influential, unique band. This album is definitely top notch and worth a listen for anyone who can appreciate music.

5.0 out of 5 stars "still good to me" (from ex-emo)
A lot of records bite the dust in terms of listenability when you get older but I've had this cd for more than 11 years and I still enjoy it as much as I did as a teen. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing
This is nothing compared to their EP, which was great by the way. Songs lack of inventive, arrangements and feeling... maybe a couple of songs are to be rescued, but no more.
