5.0 out of 5 stars No you really don't!
I first found this book by accident in the public library. The title put me off a bit but I took it back to where I was sitting. Across the library in the newly arrived books section is a back lit sign to that effect. I knew what the sign said but could not read it from where I was sitting. 2.0 out of 5 stars Just doesn't work
This book presents a series of techniques that don't take much time to practice, that arguably will improve your vision. It claims that these techniques can reduce (if not fix) a lot of eye problems.
I've found that some of them are good but just for some very short time. Like focusing far away into some distant object, witch alleviates myopia, but only for some...

I first found this book by accident in the public library. The title put me off a bit but I took it back to where I was sitting. Across the library in the newly arrived books section is a back lit sign to that effect. I knew what the sign said but could not read it from where I was sitting. Within 20 minutes of reading this book without getting up to practice some of exercises requiring a standing position, I was never the less able to read that sign! No matter how bad your eyes are if you are willing to do these execises your vision will improve, dramatically!

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple procedure!, December 5, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got this book over a year ago and was too terrified to even open it! When I did open it I found it to be a treasure of information! The exercises that she recommends are not just good for your eyes but for your overall well-being. The Long Standing Swing is relaxing to do; it does just what she promises: It banishes insomnia and makes the trials of the day less daunting. Because I am a hyper person meditation is hard, but this is a form of meditation that I can do. The Sunning procedure has helped me get out of dark sunglasses; I couldn't have done it otherwise. I was so photosensitive that I couldn't go outside without dark glasses, which makes the problem worse. She says so and I agree, from personal experience of having worn them; the South is nothing but flat yellow glare in the summer, but wearing dark glasses does not help. I now wear amber shooting glasses because I just need a little shielding and they are polarized. The Palming procedure is hard for me to do because I am a hyper person and this is a guided meditation is the hard part; if you already meditate then this exercise is cake. I can only Palm for about five minutes. I use Source Vibrations' Solfeggio album to time myself, because I have no sense of time. She tells the story of Dr. Bates's patient who Palmed for 20 hours---I can't imagine doing that. He said, "It was tedious, doctor, very tedious, but I did it." I think that is the understatement of the century.

She was a Gestalt therapist as well as a Natural Vision teacher, and she validated me on one of my intuitions: I have always thought that my vision problems were due to emotional abuse, not just physical problems, such as near stress-point activity; she provides the example of one of her patients, who of course she can't name due to doctor-patient confidentiality; this girl was from the South, as am I, and she was reared by a controlling mother, as was I, and she was required to read the Bible three hours a day. In resentment, she took refuge in blindness.

I wasn't required to read the Bible for three hours every day, but I was emotionally abused; one example is that I was ridiculed for blinking. You have to blink to keep your eyes healthy. My mother wasn't happy unless I was staring vacantly into space. Of course if you go into the unfocused stare all the time your vision WILL deteriorate. Once I worked up the courage to begin confronting those incidents (which I didn't want to "look" at--get it?) my vision went from 20/1250 to 20/800 in two months. My vision is slowly continuing to improve after that great leap forward, by the use of this book and regression therapy, as she recommended. I was and still am very nearsighted, but my vision is improving. I think that if you are not very nearsighted, and faithfully practice her exercises, this little book is all you need.

I've found that some of them are good but just for some very short time. Like focusing far away into some distant object, witch alleviates myopia, but only for some small time.
But despite this temporary vision problem reduction, these techniques will do no good at all; instead if you don't use your prescribed eyeglasses, you'll end up with worst vision problems.
Conclusion: You don't really need eyeglasses, you can try contact lenses ;)

1.0 out of 5 stars Yes, I Do, As Badly As Before, September 15, 2007
This review is from: Do You Really Need Eyeglasses? (Hardcover)
This book didn't work for me. My eye sight is as bad as it used to be. None of the exercises improved it. I also felt like an idiot doing the tricks the author recommends. The Swinging exercise is especially ridiculous. Maybe I am beyond this kind of placebo help but I find this book pure quackery. Don't waste your money, go see a qualified eye doctor instead!
