Freaking perfect, October 29, 2000

You can't throw a beer bottle anymore without hitting some alt-country wannabee. The Wacos are far and away the best of the lot, and this is far and away their best disc. Langford has the fire-in-the-belly of Billy Jo Shaver (without the gut.) This is loud, rude, and fo-real. This is the best of rock and country, without becoming (pause to spit) country rock.

This CD was my intro to the Waco Brothers..., March 27, 2001
This review is from: Do You Think About Me (Audio CD)
I first heard the title track on the 'Local Anesthetic' show on WXRT radio in Chicago a couple of years ago. The song stuck with me, so I decided to get the CD. Years later, I still listen to that song over and over, again, without getting sick of it. Needless to say, that's never happened before! I have to agree with the other reviewer who said that the title track is strong enough to justify buying the album.

Honky tonk punk, March 4, 1999

A great collection of punch-drunk honky tonk punk. Just the opening track alone is worth the price of admission.

Great Introduction to the Waco Brothers, July 30, 2001
This review is from: Do You Think About Me (Audio CD)
This is a great disc for three spectacular songs: "Arizona Rose", "Napa Valley", and "South Bend." The rest of the songs are damned fine also. Highly recommended.

not Johnny Cash -- maybe John Cougar Mellencamp, April 13, 2004
This review is from: Do You Think About Me (Audio CD)
This isn't country and it's not punk; it's what critics call meat and potatoes rock n' roll, and what I refer to as a boring slog. The vocals are mediocre, the riffs are recycled, and the lyrics are, at best, moderately clever. Even the enthusiasm seems second-hand -- I felt like they were constantly nudging me to tell me what a good time they were having. Their proletarian posturing isn't quite as good as Bruce Springsteen's, but if you like John Mellencamp, there's no reason you shouldn't enjoy this.
