3.0 out of 5 stars I expected any better, December 8, 2000

When you can join two great of the latin music, logically you expect any better than any work before made by both, on the other hand when you know that Oscar has a big band, your expectative increases, but when you listen this CD, you think: what happened? where is the Oscar's big band?. The sound is not the best, in my opinion. I would rather expect a new job with Oscar and Wladimir and the Oscar's big band. I hope. Oscar and Wladimir are two of my favorites singers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blast of the past, January 8, 2001

I agree that this work goes back to how Oscar began his career with the Dimension Latina. You listen to this CD and you can see yourself listening to the same style which made him so popular 25 years ago. Whether it is with a big band or this style which focuses on the trombones, Oscar is first class. It was worth waiting for the reunion of Oscar and Wladimir. Their duos are an excellent blend reminiscent of songs such as El Frutero and Taboga. If you are an Oscar D'leon fan or were a fan of the Dimension Latina era, Doble Play is a must.

SINCE I AM A RELATIVE NEWCOMER TO SALSA MUSIC, MY OPINION MIGHT NOT COUNT FOR MUCH. BUT I LOVE THIS CD AND OSCAR D'LEON. I LOVE HIS STYLE THROUGH AND THROUGH. I RECENTLY STARTED BUYING A FEW SALSA MIX CD'S WITH SUCH NAMES AS CELIA CRUZ AND TITO NIEVES AND KEVIN CEBALLO AND INDIA, I BUY THEM AND HAPPEN TO FIND A FEW SONGS I LIKE... THE SONG THAT MADE ME TAKE NOTICE OF OSCAR D'LEON WAS "LLORARAS"....I LOVE HIM....I ALSO UNDERSTAND HE'S BEEN AROUND FOR A LONG TIME. I HOPE I GET MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO CATCH UP ON MORE OF HIS MUSIC.......
