3.0 out of 5 stars Fun enough, not too challenging
Short game: 7 worlds (including the bonus world) 8 levels each = 56 boards that take up to 5 minutes each. It was fun enough, but for adults it just offers a fun bit of distraction without being too mentally taxing. The junk food of games. While this game doesn't offer enough challenges for adults, little ones might find it frustratingly difficult.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Surprise, March 19, 2009

This review is from: Docomodake BOING! (Video Game)
I picked this up expecting a silly platformer that my nephew and I could enjoy. While it delivered in that regard I was pleasantly surprised to find myself thoroughly engaged in the game. It starts out as a simple Mario-like platformer with simple levels and puzzles but before I knew it I was transfixed. As the game progresses puzzles become extremely clever and coupled with the platforming elements, create a most enjoyable experience. It's never too difficult and my nephew had no problem grasping the game. It had great pick up and play ability so we could play as long or as little as we wanted to. I was also happy to see various unlockables and secret stages appear as we went through the game as well. I highly recommend this to those looking for a unique and well executed platformer for the DS that you and your family can enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great little game!, March 28, 2009

I like platformer games but tend to be not-so-great at them. I mostly play RPG or puzzle type games. This game is quite fun. It is not overly complicated but it is not too easy. The graphics are fine and the little "movie" in the beginning is really very cute. I found the stylus controls to be exceptionally tight--and in a platformer this is really not an optional thing! It has enough tutorial that you are not spending endless amounts of time trying to figure things out which I can appreciate. I think this would be suitable for any age from about 5 up--there isn't really much reading as there are "pictures" to show you what to do so even a non reading 7 year old would likely be fine with this. There is no violence that I've encountered either which is a bonus for all us parents.

Overall I highly recommend. I think you would be very happy with this game for the amount you'll spend. I am particularly fond of the fact it saves after each piece of the level--unlike Mario games where death means going back to the beginning (again and again and again). You can replay levels you've done to higher the score. In terms of replay value I don't think it is something that will generate multiple replays from you---but for the price does it really need to? I operate under the assumption (your mileage may vary!) that a game for twenty bucks isn't going to provide a lot of replay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun but way too easy., September 12, 2009

I bought this game for my daughter and she really liked it, but was able to get through it and solve it within one and a half days. She is 10-years-old and it was way too easy for her. But, I recommend it for younger children.

I was smitten with how adorable the trailer video for this game is, so I bought it on a whim. I have to say, its been the most entertaining fun game I've played yet on my DS. The concepts are pretty simple, but it keeps my brain working the whole time, with some of the later puzzles becoming difficult enough to provide a mild challenge even for an adult. I played through the whole game relatively quickly, but have since gone back and replayed it several times, and am always playing levels over a ton of times trying to improve my score. It never grows old. I highly recommend this game to everyone I know with a DS.

I have no idea why they published this game in the US, the character is the mascot of a Japanese telecom giant and US audiences have no familiarity with it. That being said, I am really glad they did! Was not sure what to expect of the game but it ended up being very similar to the Mario March of the Minis, etc... series of games. It's a puzzle platformer and the mechanic is simple (Docomodake can split himself into multiple units), but they make full use of it and the puzzles are clever. The later stages are actually challenging, although the game is fairly easy overall. Loved the littles stills between the stages promoting family ties, it was simple but very cute. Great little game, it's a pity there was absolutely no promotion for it, may have done better on sales if they did at least try to target the Sat morning cartoon audience. Now I want a Docomodake plushie....

I loved this game. It was pretty easy, but I really prefer that type anyway. The game was a little bit like a puzzle, and the design was very cute.

I bought my son a ds, and was looking for some games to get him started. I saw this game for a steal of a price, and read reviews saying this was a great game. After my son(5 yr old) and I playing this game, I have to agree. The game is fun yet makes you so some problem solving. I am pleasantly surprised with this game.

I got this with the Nintendo DSI for my little girls 5th Birthday. She and her older sister love it. It is fun to watch them play. At first it was a little confusing for me getting around- you have to split the character up or put them back again, but the girls figured it within minutes making me look bad. They have not stopped playing with it, which is great. Not having a famous named attached to the game, I was a little uncertain she would like it, but after reading the reviews I got it anyway and I am glad I did.
