Excellent Stuff, But Not Doc's Best,

I'm being nice giving this 4 stars. It's 3.5 at best. There is some excellent playing and singing here, but it's far from being Doc's best stuff. The setting is the '92 Merle Watson memorial and the players are top notch, with Doc and Jack sharing licks with Tony Rice, Dan Crary, Mike Coleman, Bela Fleck and many more. Most of the songs are excellent too. It's a very informal set and that's a blessing and a curse, great for a mellow down-home mood, but had it been edited more carefully, the net result would flow much more seamlessly. Big time Doc fans will certainly want this, but if you just want one Doc DVD, look elsewhere.
