Doctor Is in [ORIGINAL RECORDING REMASTERED] [IMPORT],
By Seabury Salmon (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Doctor Is in (Audio CD)
I bought the original on vinyl when it first came out, not knowing who he was. It was a knockout record - and remains so. Clever, funny lyrics, a great voice and cool arrangements. Right through the album. The reason I'm buying the CD is that my vinyl is crackled to bits.If you want some of the best of Ben Sidran, this is it.

Doctor Is In,

Mr. Ben Sidran was definately at the top of his game on this album. Isn't it ironic that this wonderful; talented artist is bigger in Asia & Europe - As big as Elvis was here in the states. Sidran was a master at combinating a mixture of bebop, jazz, his flavor of rhythmic soul. 'Doctor Is In' as well as 'Cat In The Hat' are all-time classics. "A Song For A Sucker Like You" will remain one of my top 10 all-time favorites from this album. I highly recommend.H. Ward

Let me just tell you that I first turned on to Ben Sidran with the Free in America album in the mid '70's. Right around the time I was discovering Michael Franks and Gino Vannelli. I have to thank fine ol' Yolanda for hipping me to Gino, may she rest in peace! But I digress. Anyway, since that blew my mind in all of the right places, I purchased every album Ben put out and that continued when CD's took the spin out of albums, or so folks thought, since albums are back. I bought this to replace the album and there are just a few others that need to be released (again?) on CD to make the set completely complete. If you felt Too Hot to Touch On the Cool Side, That's Life I Guess. Walk Pretty while you're Puttin' in Time on Planet Earth. There are Old Songs for the New Depression but Don't Let Go, instead Lead a Life. Mr P's Shuffle will take you to Cool Paradise with a stop by Cien Noches to visit with The Cat in the Hat down in Bop City while you find yourself Bumpin' at the Woodside. And Nick's Bump will be the set not to miss. Let that fool talk and you'll understand perfectly.
