About the Author

Isadore Rosenfeld, M.D. is widely recognized as one of this country's preeminent doctors. His regular appearances on network television (his show House Calls all airs every Sunday morning on Fox News Network) and his nine best-selling books (as well as a textbook for doctors) have garnered him the reputation of America s Doctor. He remains one of the leading and most effective proponents of the medical enlightenment of the American public. Dr. Rosenfeld who is an attending physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and the Rossi Distinguished Professor of Clinical Medicine at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and maintains a private practice in New York City. He was president of the New York County Medical Society and a member of The Practicing Physicians Advisory Council for two Secretaries of Health and Human Services, and was appointed by President George W. Bush as a consultant to the White House Conference on Aging. Dr. Rosenfeld has also served as a consultant to the National Institute of Health on such task forces as arteriosclerosis, sudden death, and hypertension. Among his many honors, Dr. Rosenfeld was named the United Nations Citizen of the World in November of 1999 and was the recipient of the first Award for Achievement in Cardiovascular Medicine and Science by the New York affiliate of the American Heart Association. Doctor of the Heart is a compelling account of a phenomenal career in medicine. The book combines both personal recollections of Dr Rosenfeld's career that took him all over the world whenever and wherever his patients need him. And while these are very important and distinguished patients, it is evident that this is the kind of care Dr. Rosenfeld would give to any patient. Why has medicine changed so drastically? I especially enjoyed the chapter about his care of Onassis and another about when he was totally determined to solve the medical problem for one of his patients that other doctors had given up on. Other doctors: Are your listening???? As I read this book I learned and I laughed, and I hope there will be a sequel. Great holiday gift.

Dr. Isadore's book is a wonderful look inside the life of a dedicated physician. I watch him every Sunday morning on Fox News. His book describes his reasons for becoming a doctor and all that he's learned along the way...much of which came from patients he's treated. I enjoyed the book for it's heartfelt sharing of the ups and downs, tears and
joy that this compassionate doctor has experienced in his profession for so many years. I think this book should be required reading for every person in medical school! I have recommended it to many friends and relatives...may even give a copy to my doctor!
