Liposuction Book - Very Helpful, October 23, 2001
This review is from: Doctor, Is Liposuction Right for Me? (Paperback)
I read Dr. Sandhu's book and found the informatiuon very helpful in understanding liposuction. Great results can be seen by the pictures in the book as well. I had the surgery in Dr. Sandhu's New York offices and found the entire process to be as stress-free as surgery can possibly be. I have felt very comfortable under his care. Dr. Sandhu is clearly well-educated in his field of plastic surgery, as demonstrated by this book.

I have been thinking about Liposuction for a long time and this book covered all my apprehensions and anxieties in an unbiased way. Not only was it informative, but very educational in it's approach. Well worth the consulatation fee ....
I highly recommend this book, very easy to read and informative.

Useful information with helpful photographs of work done., March 23, 2011
This review is from: Doctor, Is Liposuction Right for Me? (Paperback)
Unlike two previous reviewers I am basing my opinion on what I actually thought of the book rather than what I thought of the surgeon who wrote the book. These reviewers reactions could be as varied as that from Thomas in NYC who after having surgery in Dr Sandhu's office "found the entire process to be as stress-free as surgery can possibly be" to gini in New Jersey who described Dr Sandhu's postoperative care as "horrible" and claims that he is "the worst plastic surgeon ever". Regardless of what you think of the author (who is also a practicing plastic surgeon) the book DID provide some useful information helpful in making future decisions about plastic surgery.
I was particularly drawn to Chapter 8 Abdominoplasty versus Liposuction. I needed to make a decision between Abdominoplasty (aka "Tummy Tuck") and liposuction and the book helped me to decide on liposuction. I don't know if this is true or not but the author claims that "traditional abdominoplasty is an outdated procedure". The author makes the point that patient could be "better served with liposuction ... but that there was little that could be done now that she had the scar." I think it is wonderful that there is a doctor out there who does NOT glamorize the "tummy tuck" procedure (even the name sounds unnecessarily cutesy) and is honest enough to admit that there are pitfalls and possible complications involved in receiving what is, in fact, major surgery. I recently had bilateral breast reduction mammoplasty and I can say right off the bat that recovering from the surgery is no walk in the park. Six weeks later I can still feel my incisions. Additionally "with liposuction you can also achieve things such as circumferential liposuction around the waist, which simply cannot be achieved with abdominoplasty".
The book is only about 99 pages long introducing itself with Chapter 1 Thinking about Liposuction?, Chapter 2 The history of liposuction, Chapter 3 Does Liposuction really work? and Chapter 4 Will I be happy with the Surgery? Chapter 5 discusses the Risks of Liposuction and Chapter 6 and 7 compares and contrasts Finesse -vs- Volume Liposuction. Chapter 9 Breast Reduction Surgery using Liposuction might be useful the male patient who suffers from gynecomastia, Chapter 10 gives an idea How much will Lipsuction cost" and Chapter 11 provides tips on Choosing a Surgeon for your Liposuction. The book concludes with Chapter 12 The Surgery Itself and Chapter 13 Things you might want to discuss with your surgeon.
Although the book is short and I would have liked more information I DID benefit from the photographs illustrating some of the procedures. Albeit black-and-white they quite clearly demonstrated the benefits of having liposuction done. I would recommend the book.
