Format: Paperback
This book, written by a physician who supports physician-assisted dying (PAD), covers the topic of PAD from Hippocrates (including how the Hippocratic Oath is quoted out of its historical context) to a history of the right to die to how the issue is mistakenly framed as killing or suicide to why many physicians tend to be physician-oriented rather than patient-oriented, thereby not heeding an already dying patient's request to choose his or her time of death rather than enduring suffering during the last weeks/months of dying to professional, legal and political issues to recommendations to everyone (the majority of people do not request PAD) regarding end of life planning such as preparing advance directives.

The book itself is concise, clearly written, non-blaming, comprehensive and has an extensive bibliography.

Format: Paperback
This book is well-researched and well written. It makes a very convincing case for doctors to help patients die on their own terms when imminent death is inevitable. It would be excellent if this were required reading for all physicians who might then see doctor aid in dying as a continuum of care rather than something to be avoided.

An excellent book, clearly written and very convincing. All the arguments are presented in a way that can be understood, and the book will be an effective reference work for physicians who want a better understanding of what is involved in the process of Physician Assisted Dying.
