5.0 out of 5 stars Best item I bought for my Cruise
I searched and searched. I love to cruise - but I hate the sun beating down on me. I searched everywhere and came upon these beautiful umbrellas. When I placed the order I was very surprised that the owner of the company called me personally to make sure that I was happy. I order both the small umbrella and the large. 3.0 out of 5 stars Perfect size, poor build quality.
Texas is brutal in the summertime. Currently 26 days of triple digit temperatures. I was looking for a 'parking lot' umbrella as the trek back and forth to the car is some of the most intense heat/sun you encounter. Though I'm not a child or elderly (product description), my dermatologist recommended an umbrella when I complained hats weren't always practical for women...

I searched and searched. I love to cruise - but I hate the sun beating down on me. I searched everywhere and came upon these beautiful umbrellas. When I placed the order I was very surprised that the owner of the company called me personally to make sure that I was happy. I order both the small umbrella and the large. The small one fit great in my small bag for short trips. My large one was great to cover my entire body and my grandson also had a chance to stay under with me. I really am sure I made the right decision. Please thin about getting these items if you cruise and have to walk alot or just live in an area were you are always in the sun. They are beautiful, sturdy and the best uv protection that I found.

I picked the 38' because the small size should be easier to maneuver around with. It is. You can open your car door and pop it open to exit under. You can walk right up or even through an entry door easily with it over your head. The small size makes if safe to use around other pedestrians. The crocked handle makes it easy to hang from your arm, handbag, shopping cart, door knob, etc. The double-walled fabric appears of high quality and does the job. From here, things get a little dicey.
The yellow plastic handle is cheesy beyond belief. It screams "kiddie" and female gender only. Though I've only used it a dozen or so times, three of the ribs are already bent at a 45 degree angle. Product description warns of the durability but the slightest of bumps will damage the ribs. I don't expect we'll be friends very long. I have no idea what effect wind would have, probably hasten its death.
For a durable product, I would pay double. Funny that it's advertised for a child.--it wouldn't last one outing. So far, I haven't seen anything under 40' except this one. Too bad.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for Vegas..., December 13, 2011

...Or anywhere both hot and windy.

Umbrella did a marvelous job of blocking UV rays (I am lighter in complexion this summer than the last, so I am positive that yes, this umbrella does offer UVA + UVB protection). Always remember, however, that UV rays do not just come from the sun, but can be reflected from the asphalt. I learned this the hard way when I found out that I still tanned, and the only reason why was because of inadequate sunscreen usage on my part.

Size is perfect for use by an adult female. I found the whistle provided very amusing.

That said, this umbrella did not stand well to very hot weather. The plastic melted and withered in the Las Vegas heat, and the umbrella turned upside down and got deformed during a very stormy day. I tried to bend things back in shape, and this fix worked temporarily. However, with another thunderstorm the frames snapped violently, leaving the sharp edges hanging everywhere. I had no choice but to send this along to the dumpster.

Aluminum frames would have been a much more smarter idea.
