1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing March 6, 2012
By TomX713
Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I was very disappointed with this item. Early images of the TARDIS Journal really made it look like a true replica of the one River Song uses in the "Doctor Who" television series. Even the newer image that Amazon is using -- the open book -- gives you the initial impression that this is a three-dimensional replica of the book from the show, with a textured cover of individual squares set into it. It is not. Not even close. The cover is perfectly smooth and flat, with only an image of the original TARDIS cover printed onto it. In person, this printed image is actually very cartoony-looking -- more drawn or painted on than photographed from the original prop. It needs to be wayyyy across the room from you to fool your eye for just a moment into thinking that you're looking at the real thing. For ten bucks it's an OK journal, I guess, although the binding does not seem to be very sturdy. It has a flimsy feel to it that leads me to believe that it will crack long before I get to finish using it as any kind of a journal. So if you were hoping for something to display on a shelf next to a sonic screwdriver, this is not the item for you. To the best of my knowledge, nobody has yet offered a decent replica of the "real" TARDIS journal at anything resembling a reasonable price. This book? Not a replica at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!
It looks just the way I imagined it would in person. Some reviewers complained that it doesn't look accurately like the Tardis but it does look accurately like River's journal. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the money.
As others have said, this does not have the 3D texture of River's journal, but it is a great facsimile for the cost. It is identical to one that the BBC sells. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Just wished that the journal itself was more "bubbled" like it looks in the photo instead of just a picture. Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Love the idea but not the reality
The cover is cute- thats about it. The paper is not nicequality- it's more enjoyable to write on loose leaf paper, the binding is not that great either. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Hardcover, but not textured
The journal is good quality and has plenty of room for filling with adventures, but I was a little disappointed that the cover is flat rather than textured like you would expect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very sturdy
and lots of pages. Bought this for my daughter, who shares my love of journaling and the Doctor. A little overpriced, but it's no big.
