1.0 out of 5 stars Knocks out Kindle Fire on a Full Scan December 10, 2011
Verified Purchase
I own a Kindle Fire, which I treasure. And so I thought anti-virus for the Kindle Fire was a good idea. So I downloaded Dr. Web Anti-Virus Light and immediately ran a quick scan. Worked beautifully. But when I tried a full scan, it knocked out my Kindle Fire, leaving it non-responsive. I was able to retrieve everything with a hard boot (on button 20 seconds, tap the on button). To say the least, I immediately removed this program from my Kindle. Yes, it was free, but it wasn't worth it. I spent an hour or more thinking I had killed it until I searched for help on Amazon and learned about the hard boot. Stay away from this product, for the Kindle Fire anyway.

This app is fabulous. Did a complete system scan in less than 3 minutes. Easy to use and free -- can't beat it for free virus protection. Just FYI I used this app on a Kindle Fire.

5.0 out of 5 stars Anti-Virus November 22, 2011

I was really nervous about using my Kindle Fire without protection. I read the product reviews on various anti-virus apps & chose this one over AVG as it's reviews weren't as favorable. It's great, scans everything that you download!! A number flashes in the notification area to call your attention to the scan! I know that the Kindle is protected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kindle Fire - Simple layout, fast, and works fine December 18, 2011

Works fine on Kindle Fire even on full scan. Full scan takes only a few minutes. Easily turn protection on or off. Sent out request for a fix for the false positive on ebay app earlier, and didn't notice problems after. Didn't seem to slow the device. You can go to settings and set it to daily auto update.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep your Kindle Fire safe from viruses March 28, 2012

Excellent app. Scans all downloads for viruses and protects you from viruses while browsing the web. No interference with use of Kindle Fire, works in the background. From what I can tell, does not slow down performance either. A must have for all Kindle Fire owners.

4.0 out of 5 stars I guess you can never be too careful December 4, 2011

I already have Lookout on my phone, so I am not quite sure why I downloaded this app, but it was a good idea. This app not only checks the apps that are on your phone, which is done by doing a quick scan, but it also can check the files on your phone as well as the sd card.

I initially just did a quick scan which found nothing, same result as Lookout. I then did a complete scan of all of the files and it did indeed find one threat. You can delete, quarantine or ignore the threat right there. You do not have to try to find it on your own and then get rid of it, which I thought was kind of cool. After I deleted the file, I scanned again to make sure it was gone, and it was.

The quick scan only takes a few minutes, the complete one took a little over 15 minutes. One problem I found was that it kills your battery. When I started the scans, I had a full battery. After I scanned the apps and then scanned the files, I had just a little over half of my battery left, so that kind of sucks. I guess if you don't do it every day, that is ok.

The threat that was found was actually from an app that I got on Amazon, so I guess even though you think you are getting your apps from a reputable site, you still need to check them out before you download them.

Even though I have Lookout, it only scans apps. This one actually scans files as well. I guess you can never be too careful, right? I know this was a long review, but I hope it was helpful. HTC Sensation, 2.3.4
