Classic Tom Baker Years,
By The Sci-Fi Fanatic (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Doctor Who Classics Volume 2 (v. 2) (Paperback)
If you like Classic Tom Baker and you like aliens then what are you waiting for. This is pure gold. This features classic storytelling and artwork from an era when comic books actually meant something. These are reprints from the Doctor Who Magazines. These stories along with Volume 1 made their way into Marvel Comics for a period. These are the same stories. This ranks right up there with classic era Byrne/ Claremont X-Men. It's vintage stuff. Again, it's animated Tom Baker what more could you ask for?

Really good stories, and stars the fourth Doctor,
By Kurt A. Johnson (North-Central Illinois, USA) - See all my reviews (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (TOP 100 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Doctor Who Classics Volume 2 (v. 2) (Paperback)
This graphic novel contains three complete story arcs, and a one-off story.
Doctor Who and the Dogs of Doom - In the distant New Earth system, the human colonies find themselves under attack by space werewolves, and the Doctor is right there to help them. But, to make a very bad situation even worse, he discovers that someone is behind the space werewolves - an old enemy of the Doctor! 4 stars. Doctor Who: Dragon's Claw - The Doctor arrives in China in the year 1522 A.D., and is promptly arrested by Shaolin monks as a pirate! But, there is more going on here than meets the eye. Someone killed a group of Japanese pirates with a futuristic energy weapon, and the Doctor needs to get to the bottom of things! 5 stars (great, great story!) Doctor Who: The Collector - The Doctor finally gets the Tardis back to Blackcastle, England, only to be teleported away to the asteroid belt. Someone has been studying anthropology by trapping humans in time-stasis bottles, and the Doctor must put a stop to it. But, instead of battling an old enemy, the Doctor finds himself out to thwart the plans of an old friend! 5 stars (this is the one-off story - short but quite good.) Doctor Who: Dreamers of Death - The Doctor drops in on some old friends on Unicepter IV, and finds that they have a very interesting new entertainment - high-tech dreaming. But, nothing comes without a cost, and it will take everything the Doctor has to save the day this time! 5 stars. So, let me just say that I really liked this graphic novel, and really enjoyed reading it. It has really good stories, and stars the fourth Doctor, who could ask for more?!? |
