Yes, Dead Air is another new audio exclusive story, and yes, it is read by David Tennant.
Now that we have that out of the way, what I found special about this is that David Tennant doesn't just simply narrate "Dead Air". He reads it "in character" as the Tenth Doctor. Throughout the whole story. This Doctor Who adventure is presented to the listener as if they're listening to a recording recovered from a sunken boat, circa 1960's. The first words you hear(after an introduction that informs you that the age of the recording may affect the sound quality) is "Hello, I'm the Doctor. And if you can hear this, then one of us is going to die". This will really appeal to fans of the Tenth Doctor. This story is adult in the same manner that episodes like "Blink" and "Midnight" are. They can be fun for kids, but older fans will get just as much(if not more) enjoyment out of them. :)

I love the tenth doctor, and he is my doctor. I enjoyed hearing him in this story but did feel the story was a bit short and for the price would have liked either a longer story or something other than just the story. Still, I enjoyed it. Tennant does great voices for the characters, and you can certainly tell who is speaking. I found the story very entertaining and it even kept me guessing much of the time. With the descriptions I could picture the action very well, which is not always the case with an audio book. I have given this 4 stars because of the cost vs length.

Have listened to this several times already. Well done. Love that it is read from The Doctor's perspective and in character by Mr. T.

I was pumped to see David Tennant had stepped up to do audiobooks of Doctor Who. The reviews were good, & I loved him as the Doctor for the BBC productions on TV. I hoped for a similar production value, but was shocked that this audio was hard to listen to, and David Tennant's portrayal of his character seemed out of character much of the time; lackluster and almost apathetic. I'd have given it one star, but the story itself was ok.
Further, unlike the DVD's, there are no Doctor Who 'confidentials', nor ANY special features. It isn't a long audiobook, and felt far too costly given it's length. Very unsatisfying. I won't be buying another Doctor Who audiobook. |
