This review is from: Doctor Who: The TARDIS Handbook (Hardcover)
I initially thought this was going to be all about the Tardis, after all the book IS called "Doctor Who: The Tardis Handbook". Well, not exactly. XD
The book is not all bad. It's just not very clear what the "Tardis Handbook" is supposed to focus on. We don't get to the actual history of the real police boxes(that the Tardis is based on)until page 22, and only on pg.24-27 do we get a (very) detailed and illustrated comparison chart of how the Tardis changed appearances from the First up to the Eleventh Doctor's era. We get entries on the Doctor's regenerations, we learn about the Time War(no new revelations here, fellow DW fanatics), and lots of other things. Some parts of the book I really enjoyed reading, like the sections on the various parts of the Tardis and the several pages worth of definitions of the Doctor's technobabble terminology(you'll love this if you ever wanted to know about things like the Dimensional Control Unit or the Gravity Tractor Beam, for example). Others, like the various 'Journey Logs'(really just episode guide summaries of the most recent Eleventh Doctor episodes), and the info on the 'redesigned' Daleks, not so much.

Too much courting of new viewers, but a good overall product,

This a fun "pocket sized" reference guide. The are too many references to the current Doctor and this most recent season for it to cover the topic evenly, but there are a few nice bits. the most interesting was a reasonably detailed view/comparison of the different models of police box used over the years.
Ultimately this is as much fun for the classic series fan as for the newer fans of the show. worth the price, but it does leave you wishing for about 75 more pages of info.

It covers all the essentials and has some brand new info on the 2010 upgrades to the TARDIS. The illustrations are good but very small.
I'll use it when I don't have internet access but when I do the TARDIS Technical Index at [...] will still be my first and (given its greater breadth of info) last stop.

I haven't been allowed to read it yet, because he looks at it over and over, but my son got this on his 8th birthday and thinks it's awesome. :-)

This book is a great addition to any Time Lord's library. Clear photos, explanations and good sturdy construction. Geronimo! A must-have for Whovians.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for a seven year old girl and I have been assured by her parents that this book is an absolute hit with its recipient. It's a good choice for a young Whovian who is just starting out.
