I ordered this for my son's 10th birthday, and he was thrilled with it, I'm glad there's a sonic and laser in the package because my husband did note "They didn't have anything like this when I was your age..." At least they can play together! We all have fun playing 'sonic laser tag' around the house, and of course my son likes using it to open doors and fix things for me!

Everything can stand to be a little more Sonic, July 5, 2010

I got this set for my very particular 5 year old Dr Who fan for his birthday. The Screwdrivers themselves are pretty sturdy and have not broken even with some pretty rough and tumble little boy play. The only problem with them we've had is that the Sonic Screwdriver's first two power level lights got a short in them pretty much immediately. This is moderately frustrating for the kids because 1) those lights don't come on when they are supposed to and 2) because they don't get instant gratification in seeing the results of their first two shots.
however the screwdriver does still make the crunch noise it is supposed to make when you get "hit" and the toy is still keeping track of how many times it has been shot. you just can't see the light go off for the first two shots.
overall this is a good toy with some minor problems that probably won't put off the die hard fan if it means they get to go around Sonic-ing everything in sight including their annoying older brother.

This toy is not just for little kids. I'm 22 years old and I have just as much fun duking it out with my friends as a kid would. The mechanics are simple enough as is the concept. It's one of those toys that you take with you to a party just so you can all start playing it. I would recommend it to any fans of Doctor Who and even those who aren't fans.
