5.0 out of 5 stars Superior Who, May 28, 2010

Have now read this novel, in addition to his other Who novel, Night of the Humans and am just as pleased by this one as the first. I've read a lot of Who novels & usually been disappointed (dark, depressing, trying to establish canon against the spirit of the TV show, etc.) but David Llewellyn gets it just right. Both of his novels could easily have been used for television series. Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Vivid and engaging, March 16, 2010
This is another companionless Tenth Doctor tale, but a good one. It includes a good look at the Sonatarans and another alien species from the older series. The characters are colorful, and the ending is neither over-worked nor rushed. The epilogue is curious, but one expects at least one enigmatic element.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for all ages (capable of understanding scientifical terms), October 16, 2010
I have to say that this book is extremely interesting and is capable for all ages to read. David Llewelyn is by far my favorite author in the doctor who series, he always likes to jump write into the story and thats what I love about his books. This book takes you on an exciting adventure that includes two temporary assistants, and the man himself the Doctor (the last of the time lords).

4.0 out of 5 stars 10th Doctor Fast Paced Action, August 4, 2010

This review is from: Doctor Who: The Taking Of Chelsea 426 (Doctor Who (BBC Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
Man I love these Doctor Who novels; they are like munching on great candies.

The Taking of Chelsea 426 involves the Doctor as played by David Tennant without any companions facing the Sontarans and Rutans on a space station full of humans from Earth. Written by David Llewellyn who has also written 2 Torchwood novels and 2 Doctor Who novels including Night of the Humans featuring the new Doctor and Amy Pond.

This book is a fairly standard Doctor Who romp through a space station with a pair of old enemies and human stuck in the crossfire. It is very well written and the story moves along at a pace very similar to the TV episodes featuring David Tennant and the 10th Doctor.

I rate this book an 8 out of 10. If you love the 10th Doctor and enjoy fast paced sci-fi then I think you will really like this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant as ever, December 6, 2010
This review is from: Doctor Who: The Taking Of Chelsea 426 (Doctor Who (BBC Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
I was on Houston International Airport and had no books left for the long flight home. In the local bookshop I found 1 copy of a Doctor Who book: The taking of Chelsea 426. I immediately bought it from my last dollars, even if I have never before read a Doctor Who book. I did watch the series on television so I was prepared for the whole Doctor Who experience.

As I had to wait for boarding I started reading and I found that I couldn't leave it alone. As you can't really read and step onto a plane at the same time, the book needed to be put away for a little while. But after I sat down I started reading again and just after the on board dinner finished it.

I laughed a lot (annoying the other passengers) and found the obvious parts sad (I won't tell you why ;-). I really enjoyed the book. If you like English humour, exciting plots and science fiction with a current theme, please read this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like Watching Number Ten On The Telly Again, November 21, 2010
This review is from: Doctor Who: The Taking Of Chelsea 426 (Doctor Who (BBC Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
David Llewellyn pins David Tennant's Tenth Doctor in his newest Who adventure, "The Taking Of Chelsea 426." It was literally like watching David Tennant sprint across the screen on the television series.

In this non-companion adventure, the good Doctor finds himself in the Saturn Colony of Chelsea 426. He befriends a young brother and sister , Jake and Vienna, who live in the colony with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carstairs. The Carstairs run the Grand Hotel on the colony and are looking forward to filling up their empty rooms with visitors who plan to attend the Chelsea Flower Show.

The Chelsea Flower Show promises to be a grand one. It features a flower that Professor Wilberforce has discovered that actually grows on Saturn. Unfortunately for the good citizens of Chelsea 426, the flowers are part of a dark scheme by an old enemy of the Sontarans that threatens to bring the destruction of the entire colony.

Of course, the Sontarans are always looking for a fight, and when they discover their enemy's plans, the go into action. It's up to the Doctor and his new friends to put an end to the Sontaran threat, and save Chelsea 426.

As I already stated, Llewellyn writes the Tenth Doctor perfectly. While the book played out, I visualized each and every breakneck-paced moment in my head. Even the music of the show found its way into my reading.

If you're a fan of Doctor Who, especially David Tennant's portrayal of the Doctor, I highly recommend "The Taking Of Chelsea 426." It's a wonderful ride with one of the best Doctors to ever grace the small screen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr Who - the BEST (from Amazon), March 26, 2010

This review is from: Doctor Who: The Taking Of Chelsea 426 (Doctor Who (BBC Hardcover)) (Hardcover)
I have been a fan of Dr Who since I first saw the Tom Baker episodes. Since then I have seen all the episodes shown on US TV. I also have all the Dr Who books from the 1st Dr Who to the 6th. I am thrilled with the David Tennant episodes and had to buy a couple of the books. I have no critiques of the book. Anything "Dr Who" is wonderful including his definition of time as wibbly-wobbly.
