5.0 out of 5 stars The coolest cookie jar ever
This is, HANDS DOWN, the coolest cookie jar ever. I love it to bits and pieces, especially when there are cookies inside. :) It's well-made and sturdy, despite being plastic, and very authentic-looking. I've gotten many compliments on it from my like-minded, geeky friends who know what it is. The sound effect is very realistic, and it turns on after you close the top, so...

1.0 out of 5 stars Grossly overpriced
Perhaps I thought this would be an actual cookie jar, an the price of $50 validated that belief. What i got in the mail was a very small, cheap looking plastic box. This thing might be worth $10, but even that is a stretch when you see how cheap the plastic is. And its not something you can set on shelf and hope that it at least looks good without touching it. It...

I've gotten many compliments on it from my like-minded, geeky friends who know what it is. The sound effect is very realistic, and it turns on after you close the top, so it's almost like the TARDIS is going to disappear with all the cookies! But it doesn't, so that's good. I bought it as a housewarming present for myself and my sister. It was sort of expensive, but I don't regret spending the money. An added bonus of the sound effect is that you can hear when anyone else takes a cookie!

I sent this to my aunt as a gift for her birthday (she is in the US, I am in the UK). The package arrived in good time and "growled" at her as she picked it up. The growl was of course the tardis materialisation sound which is reported to be very accurate.

She is very happy with it and has some english biscuits especially to go in it. It was even her facebook profile image for a while so it must be good. The detailing was great in the pictures so must be even better in real life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Your cookies will travel through time and space in this awesome cookie jar, December 28, 2010
This review is from: Doctor Who Tardis Cookie Jar Lights and Sounds (Kitchen)
I received this as a Christmas present from a good friend (a friend who, although very high in my estimation beforehand, went up a quite a bit more after I opened up the box and saw the TARDIS cookie jar) and it is the coolest thing in the world...and beyond. Although made of plastic, it's quite sturdy and well-made, not to mention detailed and well-modeled. The actual container pulls out for easy cleaning, which makes this more than just a decorative cookie jar but a useful one as well. The best part, though, is the sound effect heard when you close the lid or when the lantern on top is pressed, that wonderful whooshing sound signaling the take-off of the Doctor's TARDIS. I confess, I get into the cookie jar frequently, not to get a cookie but just to have it make that noise; it makes me smile every time. The best part is that there is no possibility of cookie theft with the TARDIS cookie jar. No way can you hide your cookie-stealing habits with that distinctive sound conveniently warning others of your activities.

This thing might be worth $10, but even that is a stretch when you see how cheap the plastic is. And its not something you can set on shelf and hope that it at least looks good without touching it. It looks incredibly cheap and flimsy. If you want a TARDIS for your house, please keep looking. As a cookie jar, you might be able to fit a few cookies in it, but it is so small you couldn't get many into it. This item is really not worth the money

I love this! It looks small, but it holds about a dozen homemade cookies (sugar cookie size). You can press the lantern to activate the lights and sound or it will also activate when you shut the lid. I can't imagine the batteries draining too fast, but I've only had it for a week, so not sure about that. Overall, this is a great product for any Dr. Who fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare to take your cookies on a trip through time!!, January 28, 2011

This review is from: Doctor Who Tardis Cookie Jar Lights and Sounds (Kitchen)
Oh man this has got to be the coolest cookie jar ever. Well it is the Doctor Who Tardis! Anyone who is a big fan of Doctor Who needs to get this. It honestly is more than a cookie jar in my opinion. It is like a mini collectible!!

The quality is very nice made of light but durable plastic. The device takes 3 1.5v G13 batteries (pretty common , can buy a 50pk on amazon for cheap) and the batteries are included. The device is pre-assembled as well. As advertised the device makes the famous Tardis sound effect two ways. 1. Pressing the light gentle. 2. Lifting the lid and closing it(no stealing a cookie while Dr. Who is on duty!)

The bin for the cookies is very well designed, a tad small length wise but for the most part you should have no problems putting in any reasonably sized cookie. I have to admit the Tardis is much nicer looking than the pictures that I took show.

* I really do see this as a collectible and seems almost sacrilege to put cookies in it and get the inside all dirty. To remedy this problem I simply took a 1 gallon zip-lock back and slipped it inside the jar itself then filled it with cookies(a 1/2 gal bag would work better). So now you can zip-lock the cookies so they stay fresh + it won't dirty the inside of the cookie jar.

This is a def. buy for any doctor who fan and makes a great gift! I actually bought this as a gift for my father since he's a big Dr. Who fan and loves cookies. 5 Stars! Great quality product that is durable and doesn't feel like some cheap kids toy. Sound effect is spot on and the flashing blue light just is great! Makes me smile every time it goes off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very nice product, a bit overpriced., June 9, 2011

First off, I will say that I bought this while it was on sale, and payed just over $30.00 for it. I would not pay more than that, but for that price it is a very good product.

Pros: It is made from very sturdy plastic. Contrary to what one reviewer wrote, it makes the "Tardis" noise whenever the lid is closed as well as when the button is pushed. That way you know whenever someone tries to steal your cookies. The inner compartment can be easily removed for cleaning. The details on the box are very good, and it looks exactly like a miniature Tardis.

Cons: As I said, I would definitely not pay more than what I paid for it, which was about $30.00 Luckily, it is still on sale as of today!

Overall, it is a great cookie jar, and a must have for all Dr. Who fans.

I love this!! I got it for my boyfriend for his birthday. This awesome little box will look great on our desk (I doubt I'd ever use it as a cookie jar). The plastic is a little thin, and it honestly was poorly packaged shipping wise, but we both loved it! I'd definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a good-sized afforablr TARDIS replica.

I didn't buy it here but I do love my TARDIS cookie jar even if it isn't airtight and hence can't be used to keep bikkies in (Australian for cookies) which does kinda defeat the purpose of it. All I do is keep little odds and ends in it that otherwise would be laying around the house on tables, shelves or in drawers. I still geek out though whenever it makes the TARDIS noise as I open and then close the lid, even down to the flashing light! Now if it only came with the Doctor...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item!, June 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Doctor Who Tardis Cookie Jar Lights and Sounds (Kitchen)
I ordered this item for my mother's birthday (we're both big Doctor Who fans). I was expecting it to arrive in about a week, as I live in the U.S., and this comes from the UK, but I was surprised and pleased to get it in only three days! It looks and sounds great. When you close it or push the lantern down, the lantern lights up and it plays the TARDIS noise. For cleaning, you can remove the inside to wash it out. All in all, it's a great product, and I can highly recommend this for any Doctor Who fan!
