Doctor Who's ninth season ends with an attempt to create a story similar to season eight's ultimate story, 'The Daemons'. Sadly, it failed on TV and it fails with this book.

The Doctor, Jo and the UNIT regulars become involved in the new transportation system, TOMTIT, created by Professor Thascales. But little do they realise that the inventor is really the Master, and that to defeat his plans they will have to journey back to ancient Atlantis itself...

Many aspects of this story are lifted directly from 'The Daemons', but it remains a pale copy. At the very best, it might be seen as a fun romp for the UNIT family. While Terrance Dicks did a good job in adapting this story, it is such a weak basis to start from that he has no opportunity to make it into anything better.
